SINGAPORE — A member of the Red Lions parachute team was stretchered off from the Marina Bay Floating Platform after an incident at his landing during the National Day Parade (Aug 9).

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen in an update on 3rd Warrant Officer Jeffrey Heng's condition in a Facebook post about an hour after the incident said that he is currently stable, alert and conscious, and is receiving medical attention.

"Let's all wish Jeffrey a quick recovery," he wrote.

Early on during the parade at about 6.10pm, the skydiver who skidded instead of landing on his feet, fell upon touching down and was entangled in his parachute.

He was the last of 10 parachutists to land during the 57th National Day Parade.

Spectators at the parade went noticeably quiet during his landing.

Medics then rushed out to carry him off the platform on a stretcher.

NDP hosts provided spectators with an update of the parachutist's condition at about 7.15pm.

Last year, one of the Red Lions also had a hard landing during a test free-fall jump on July 15.

The skydiver, who was parachuting onto a field near Junction 8 mall, had a flag attached to him which got caught in the grass as he was about to land.

What's with all this military show nonsense anyway. No other notable cuntry in the world showcases their military "might" on their national day except for shitholes like North Korea and the Burmese Junta.

No need to show how tough we are with all these military shit. Everyone knows we are the "pee-sai" of the world and with head of the "army" calibre like cotton Chan, it won't take anyone long to over run us.

See? I told you better to showcase drones and robots. If drones have "incident at landing" means the idiot NSF sign 1206 and go DB only... Can still go home for dinner

1st off, let's wish 3rd Warrant Officer Jeffrey Heng, a member of our heroic Commandos, a speedy recovery & thank him for his efforts. He is our citizen & fellow Human. We Singaporeans leave no one behind, a bond we all made with our sacred National Pledge we swore daily since 6 yrs old.

Free fall parachuting-jumping out of a moving plane at 10,000ft is not an easy task, needs much training as well as many other factors for success including even capricious Nature environment. As he was the last jumper, the aerial vessel, after dropping off 9 other jumpers, would had moved several if not hundreds of ft away from the target drop zone due to wind & pressure from Nature, rather erratic lately with thunderstorms, sunny weather, haze & heat rising from the surface, thus the last parachutist would have to speed up, manoeuvre his flight to the drop zone quickly or else he would miss the drop zone.

Such incidents are common in real life missions. No matter how much is planned & calculated, no mortal can predict minutely how Nature will act in peacetime, & worse in wars as the unfathomable fuzzy logic of Human reactions would be another inclusive factor, thus the silent un-trackable free fall method is a dangerous operation which only the best of courageous men would undertake when nations go into conflict, on missions to save lives & loved ones, that no drone can undertake due to the nature of necessary hands-on operations in later stages of missions that no robot can perform.

That this capability is displayed on NDP is not meant to show off for fun, but to assure our citizens & those from foreign nations that think Spore is just a mere prawn, that we Spore have such abilities, with not just 9 men whom safely landed on the target drop zone, but even another whom will try hard despite any difficulties, to make it to the drop zone & complete their mission of the day. Extrapolate it to the hundred thousands of men whom served NS regularly, we may be shrimps, but fully trained & mentally armored, so think again that we are presumed easily swallowed shrimps.

Let's not kid ourselves that others will view us as powderful. We are not shrimps but pee-sais, a small nation with wimps masquerading as soldiers, led by wimps like cotton chan. Sinkeepoo will forever be the balls-carrier of everyone else. This is a nation of pretenders - from wannabe politicians to low-level shitizens with no aspirations of making big in anything except to live from hand to mouth and taking pride in pigeon holes they call home.
