The pap is trying to put on a brave front.

The following show that a recession is likely for Singpore in 2013:

1. Businesses are struggling because of poor demand and poor purchasing power
2. SIA is finding it difficult to fill its seats
3. SIA cargo is flying half empty planes and is losing money
4. ICA shows a reduction in incoming tourists
5. SATs catering shows that passengers coming in and going out of Singapore is declining fast
6. Fewer cargo ships are calling at Singapore

Despite the glitter, Singapore is not doing well.

So when will the pap finally tell the truth abt the bad economic situation in SG?

The problem is self-inflicted. You can't keep increasing the prices in Spore without consequences:rolleyes:

Just have to compare to our neighbours in LOS. The place was busy as usual. There were plenty of tourists from Russia, China, Taiwan, Middle-east...

Yes, Singapore MAY go into a recession in 2013 to add onto your list :-
1. More cleaners will be out of job because of "tray return" policy at hawker centres
2. More toilet uncles will be out of job because of "flash your own toilet" policy
3. Sky high COE so less people will buy cars, as a result petrol stations will have to retrench some workers

No, none of the above are sufficient reasons for a Singapore recession in 2013. However, Singapore may end up with a
recession because of the gloom and doom of global economic collapse. Key events to watch are:-

1. The impending "Fiscal Cliff" in US
2. Euro Zone debt restructuring
3. Euro Zone Budget quagmire
4. China's domestic demand pickup rate
5. Iran and oil embargo (The Israelis wildcard)

World is in recession now already! U talking 2013????
It just that still not that bad. When property bubble burst that will be start of domino.
If property below loan value and the owner unable to make payment then that the trigger button.

2. SIA is finding it difficult to fill its seats (SIA was an international airline for singapore and indonesia for some time now.But I think Garuda has rvitalised)
4. ICA shows a reduction in incoming tourists (Due to expensive lodgings when compared to KL and Bangkok)
6. Fewer cargo ships are calling at Singapore (could be due to melting ice at the polar ice caps. It is now cheaper and faster to sail from North east asia to europe via the arctic.

We have been warned many times Sg is dependent on the world economy. While Us was stagnant and Europe sinking we were booming. Can that be sustained. Need the PAP to tell you ?

This time round, our recession will be strictly caused by europe and US. I'm still trying to make sense of the data to see if that is likely. Maybe end of 2013 we'll get a recession.

China may bounce near term, that should provide a little stimulus. Unfortunately commodities also look set to bounce, which will add to inflation.

Go long the SGD in anticipation of MAS keeping monetary policy tight.

Recession in 2013 ...think bound to happen ....today, you are seeing indications all around...last few months companies especially those in electronic manufacturing are retrenching workers all round, imposing hiring freeze, announce pay freeze next yr/no bonus for end of year....sentiments definitely going down...but again it's expected, with US/Europe/china not going well, theres no way we can siam as Singapore is a open market....
