Doctors at two clinics said the injured worker should be sent to hospital. Instead, Chelladurai Lenin, 47, was dumped on the roadside after he passed out.

His mobile phone was used to call 995. Chelladurai's employer then said over the phone that he had seen somebody lying along Upper Changi Road East.

Paramedics pronounced the Indian national dead.

On Monday, the employer, Tay Kok Eng, 56, admitted to depositing a dying person and employing Chelladurai as a general worker from August 2009 to March 2010 when he had reasonable grounds to believe he was an illegal immigrant.

The bastard is not racist, in the way that would explain his behavior.

He is inhumane.

And guess what are his children becoming to?

How can he be racist when there was no ground for comparison?

Did he send a China worker to hospital, while abandoning an Indian worker?

To call a spade a spade, we should not be commenting on an abridged version of the news!!. The illegal Indian worker has himself to be blamed too, the contractor wanted to bring him to the hospital for treatment, but he didn't want, for he is afraid to be caught. He requested to treat himself, but he succumbed to his own injury, the contractor took him & place him at the side of the road, park some distance away, called for an ambulance!!

He didn't not just dump & drive away, so call a spade a spade!.

Despite bleeding from the mouth and vomiting after falling from a ladder, Mr Chelladurai Lenin, 47, did not want to be taken to the hospital as he was afraid that he would be caught for working on a forged permit.

His employer, Tay Kok Eng, 56, then put the Indian national in his van and dumped the dying man by the side of the road.

On July 30, the owner of Midas Maintenance and Services admitted to depositing a dying person as well as hiring Mr Chelladurai from August 2009 to March 2010, even when he had reason to believe the general worker was an illegal immigrant.

He also admitted to a summons for failing to ensure work safety during the light-changing job on March 30, 2010.

Tay had taken Mr Chelladurai to two clinics in Tampines and Hougang when the latter complained of pain after falling 2.8m while changing the ceiling lights at a condominium in Seraya Road.

Doctors in both clinics said Mr Chelladurai, who was losing consciousness and could barely walk, should be taken to the hospital.

Tay then took the dying man to Changi and the worker's friend dumped him on the pavement.

The friend called an ambulance, then Tay took over the phone and told the operator that he had seen someone lying on the road at Upper Changi Road.
Mr Chelladurai was pronounced dead by paramedics when they arrived later.

If convicted of illegally depositing a corpse, Tay could face up to six months in prison and be fined a maximum of $2,000.

For hiring an illegal worker, he could be sentenced to a maximum of two years in jail and fined up to $6,000.

The bastard employer knows what are his liabilities and wanted to keep a 'safe distance' away from the Ah neh.

Don't tell me, being an Ah beng contractor, he does not know 'where are the places, where there are doctors willing to treat ppl without asking too much for a fee?

Between a Ah Beng contractor and a Ah neh worker, the contractor will have much worse ethics and morals than the worker for sure!

It's just a dead Indian worker. His life is cheap and he is easily replaceable by the millions of other Indian peasants.

The same could be said by an FT Boss, who fire a Sinkie like you and replace his workers with other FTs.

The Sinkie rice bowl is too expensive and he is easily replaceable by millions of his FT kakis!

Longer jail term for boss who dumped injured worker by roadside

SINGAPORE: An employer who dumped his dying foreign worker by the roadside in June 2012 has been given an additional three months in jail, bringing his jail term to 12 months.

Tay Kok Eng, 56, was initially given a three month sentence for dumping the worker.

This sparked an appeal from the prosecution.

High Court Judge Lee Seiu Kin on Friday extended his sentence by another three months, saying that Tay had no basic human decency and deserved the maximum punishment of six months for dumping the worker, Mr Chelladurai Lenin.

Tay was also previously given a six month sentence in August for employing Mr Lenin between August 2009 and March 2010, bringing his total jail sentence to 12 months.

Mr Lenin was an illegal immigrant.

Tay was also fined S$12,000 for failing to ensure the safety of his worker.

Mr Lenin, 47, was changing ceiling lights at the lobby of a condominium in Seraya Road on March 30 2010 when he fell 2.8 metres from a wobbly ladder.

He sustained head and leg injuries.

The Indian national refused to be treated in hospital as he was afraid that he would be deported.

Tay then brought him to two private clinics and called the worker's friend to take him home.

Mr Lenin was later placed at the back of a van by Tay and driven to Upper Changi Road, where he was left by the roadside by his friend.

The foreign worker died later in a hospital from a fractured skull and haemorrhage.
