any amount is good as a token of sympathy. however, it could have been given quietly without fanfare. it's embarassing publicising this. my tax on capital gains alone was usd50k on one transaction. an individual could easily donate that amount, not to mention a so called wealthy city state.

When LKY won $$$ from suing all those unlucky people, didn't he say he was going to give the money to charity?

Anyone know if he remembered to do so

We all know the PAP, saying & doing are 2 different things.

Why not use the good 50k on our own people? you know how many of them are living badly and how much this 50k can do? don't just show off to do something good. do something to help the locals.

One question on technicality :

Since the presidential palace collapsed, and possibly the post office (even if not collapsed yet, who is working ?) what is now the address that the letter can be sent to (let alone who bother to read letters now that there are more urgent things to attend to like looting houses/coffins)?

prataman is an embarrassment to our country. One of our former preseidents was essentially kicked out of office for wanting better accounting of our assets. This guy comes in and it is reasonable to assume that he doesn't know much better than the previous president.

also this prataman could learn the japanese language and yet has failed to learn mandarin and he promised to.

now he gives $50K, a paltry sum to a country that has just suffered a terrible natural disaster. The $50K is less than a week of prataman's salary!

prataman! I hope you choke on your own body fat and die a slow and cruel death!

if it is related to condolences and concerns, please send your letter to the north pole, attn: santa claus.

if it has cash, a check or money order, please send your letter to the istana in sg. they need a lot of money as they have already spent all their petty cash of $50k.

Which is it better :

1. just shut up and pretend nothing happened in Haiti; or,
2. donate a grand US$50K from a first world country whose GDP is one of the highest in the world and its ministers clamped into the top 30 highest paid politicians in the world ?

It showed that prataman has absolutely no power to even override a nonsensical, pittance and insulting offer of help from a first world country, even though it did not come from his pockets.

It just showed that if a disaster of this magnitude were to hit Singapore, the shitizen can forget about getting help from him.
