Porto crowned Portuguese Liga champions

Benfica went into their league encounter with Rio Ave knowing that only a win would do to prolong the title race for at least another week, but they could only register a 2-2 draw with the lowly outfit.
Taking into account the Eagles' inferior head-to-head record with Porto, having lost 3-2 and drawn 2-2 against them in their two Liga contests this term, it has given Vitor Pereira his second trophy in charge of the Dragons.
Pereira had come under criticism from some quarters earlier in the season for the side's failure to compete in the Champions League, after they were eliminated from the competition at the group stage in December.
His failure to pick up from where Andre Villas-Boas left off in the Europa League also did not help matters, as they were unceremoniously dumped out by Manchester City, but a strong end to the season saw Porto win four straight matches.
Their latest title success is the 26th of their 118-year history and impressively their 14th since 1991.
