SINGAPORE — A 41-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both Singaporeans, were arrested at a hotel room in Sentosa on Wednesday (27 July), leading to a drug haul of almost 2kg of heroin, more than 4kg of cannabis and other drugs.
In a post on Facebook on Friday, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said its officers seized a total of 1,893g of heroin, 270g of methamphetamine, or commonly known as ‘Ice’, 4,193g of cannabis and seven bottles of methadone, worth about $313,000 based on street value, following the arrest.
During the raid at Sentosa, the CNB officers found about 1,849g of heroin, 269g of ‘Ice’, 663g of cannabis and six bottles of methadone.
The duo were then escorted to their hideout at a private residential unit in Shenton Way on Thursday morning and about 44g of heroin, 1g of ‘Ice’, 3,530g of cannabis and one bottle of methadone were also seized.
“These traffickers have no qualms that their luxurious lifestyles - lavish holidays, luxury cars and private residential apartments – are at the expense of other innocent parties, such as the children or loved ones of the drug abusers. CNB remains firm in our mission of keeping Singapore drug-free,” said CNB’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner Aaron Tang, Director of Intelligence Division.
The CNB post includes a photo of a luxury sedan that was seized during the operation.
A person who is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin, 250g of methamphetamine or 500g of cannabis, may face the mandatory death penalty.

I wonder who're the people smuggling in all these drugs? Our customs @The airport n causeway are sleeping..
they can’t possibly detect every car and truck for illegal drugs and narcotics unless they sniff them out with trained dogs. even with dogs, it’s only 69% effective as illegal drugs can be hidden in airtight containers or compartments.

The fact that they're caught means that their bigger fish sacrificed them to the authorities.
So that means they're not that intelligent. Low end C-class Merc is a give away.
This race confirmed to be hanged.

The CNB teams should be applauded for their courage & efforts daily, to keep our country & citizens safe from the harmful effects of drugs upon addicts, & the side effects to society.

Those whom were caught at Sentosa would not be considered ikan bilis or small fish. They are not street level pushers as photographic evidences had shown the drugs were still in their original packed form & not small quantities meant for addicts. These were the guys whom will meet up with pushers whom will distribute & distill the drugs to smaller quantities in home labs & then sold unconscionably to addicts.

The reason why they hide in Sentosa could be that they presume it to be a safe place where most of the rich tourists would stay & thus the police would not disturb, or a place where bigger fishes would pass those packages to distributors, thinking similarly that it would be a safe place to do so. There is NO safe place for drugs in Singapore. It's only a matter of time to get caught as there are surveillance cameras EVERYWHERE- from airport, ports, to streets to even shophouses.

My plea to all is to NOT get involve in the underworld. Live is hard, & money is not easy to earn, but such earnings from harming others are not conscionable. There will be no mental peace even if one does not care about others, as one will lose his life either when caught by authorities or by underworld bosses for failures. Surrender now, while not in possession of drugs either as pusher or addict, offer up contacts to CNB & get rehabilitated. All information given by them or the public will be confidential. In our normal society, 2nd chances will be given, for a better & meaningful life ahead.

As for the couple caught, they are a treasure trove of information - their contacts, of both small fishes & big fishes. What they can offer will lead to the capture of the network of local pushers & addicts, whom will be rehabilitated. It will also lead to the big fishes - the distributors & manufacturers local or overseas where such information will be shared to other anti-drug agencies & Interpol, to capture them, stop them before they can bring more harm to Humanity.

They can run, but they can no longer hide.

Nope. To the rich, its easiky accessible.
But cops and PAP turn a blind eye on them and persecute only the poor.
Many ah sia kia's got busted for drugs in the past years - the heiress of the watch retail biz and the scion of Metro(or OG?) family. Know of a few more who have the common sense to keep it private so never got in trouble with the law.

Only way to eradicate the drug problem is to eliminate the source of it... That is to destroy all the poppy fields in Afghanistan which are the main suppliers!
Didn't know that an Islamic country is involved in producing drugs? Now we know!

Nowadays most recreation drugs are synthesised in labs. No need to grow from plant.source. the risk is it's so concentrated that many people OD on homemade synthetic opioids

Afghanistan is the world’s biggest opium producer and a major source for heroin in Europe and Asia. Production rose over the past 20 years despite billions of dollars spent by the U.S. trying to stop poppy cultivation.

Can they offer information in return that they won't be hang or jail for life?

CNB has been in the past demonstrably shown to be corrupt, fabricate evidence, fabricate data, plays territorial politics and does everything but eradicate drugs.
