To be honest a live feed is only useful if there are contentious issue to be debated but if you do not have a live feed full coverage than the PAP can be very selective on what they are going to broadcast. Its this lack of trust in the PAP for the call and it has nothing to do with demand. No sane person is going to watch parliamentary coverage as a daily chore.
There are also secondary issues such as empty seats and sleeping members.
You don't worry about the sleeping members & those who sign in, but not there ( now you know where the SMRT learn this); the cameraman, will pan to the side where the gallery are filled & if accidentally pan the wrong side, they will edit that.
This was many years back ( won't say when), I was at this place, where they have lunch time rally, everyday, we have different candidates addressing the crowds. Oppositions rallies are filled to the 'rafters' so to speak, people have to climb trees to have a good view. The late LKY rally, was filled to the brim & people even watched from the building windows.
Then came, LHL rally, only a handful could be seen in the front rows, mostly people who had free lunch boxes, free t-shirts & party bags, were bussed there to make up the crowd & a sprinkling of people who bothered to watch. I saw the usual press photographers & TV Station crews. The news at night, you could see the video was taken at an angle to make it look like, there were a big turnout...the fact is, the back is all empty & so were the pictures in the newspaper showing the selected view.
We are wasting time, wanting to have a live feed of parliament...
