SINGAPORE: If you're a happy person, you spend less time online, and vice-versa.

That is one of the key findings of a recent survey by students from Singapore Polytechnic.

The students are from the Diploma in Media and Communication course.

The survey "Impact of Social Media on Youth Well-being and Happiness" targeted more than 800 respondents, aged 15 to 35.

It found a link between respondents' mood and the amount of time they spend online.

Those who feel they have higher levels of well-being spend less time on social media.

One surprising finding is a small percentage of youth in Singapore don't communicate face-to-face with their family, friends, school or work mates.

However, the majority of the respondents agree that social media have helped them improve and maintain their relationships.

The survey was conducted in June last year.

lol. Clearly, the MSM are unhappy people and will be very distraught when alternative media which is real time interactive totally shuts MSM out. Nope, many people who are online are also mobile.
