SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a man who is suspected of stealing a mobile phone in a hospital along Outram Road on March 14, 2013.

Police received a call from the hospital at about 4pm informing that a patient had lost his mobile phone.

Officers gathered from the victim that he had discovered his mobile phone missing from his bedside drawer after he returned from a shower at about 1.45 pm on March 14 itself.

The officers, with the assistance from the hospital staff, immediately commenced their investigations into the case.

They recovered the missing phone on the same day from a dustbin within the hospital.

The officers also arrested a 31 year-old man who was suspected of stealing the mobile phone valued at about $800.

The suspect was also a patient in the hospital. He was arrested for committing theft, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and a fine.

Investigations are ongoing.
