A Chinese passenger on Thai flight got into a row with cabin crew when they refused to open a flight door so he could smoke during a refuelling stop, mainland media reported.

Orient Thai Airlines Flight 8223 left Bangkok for Phuket on Friday, but weather concerns forced the pilots to divert and land at Surat Thani Airport, about 200km north of the destination, Shanghai-based Dragon TV reported yesterday.

While the plane was refuelling, the Chinese passenger walked approached the flight staff and demanded they open the door, the report said.

After they denied, [he] began to rail against the flight attendants,” said a technology company executive who posted details of the incident on his Weibo and quoted by the TV report.

“Fortunately some warm-hearted passengers stepped in and stopped the disaster.”

A short video clip of the incident filmed on a mobile phone has gone viral. It shows a the man, dressed in a black shirt, who appears to argue with flight attendants near the door. After they refuse his request, he turns back and begins to make a phone call.

Orient Thai did not immediately respond to inquiries from the South China Morning Post .

Bad behaviour by some mainland holidaymakers overseas regularly make headlines on the mainland and in international media.

The country’s tourism authorities launched a blacklist for travellers who act in especially egregious fashion, although the specific punishment was never been made public.

In another recent episode, graffiti written in Chinese was scratched on the passenger windows of a Shanghai Airlines plane, photos posted online appeared to show.

In another case, a Chinese professor was sacked by his university in Chengdu, Sichuan province after he kicked up a fuss on a Shanghai to New York flight after he tried to “self-upgrade” his seat.

He was escorted off the flight before it departed.

This news is so funny but then on a more serious note one hardly read of such news about South Asians doing such things in flights. I believe South Asians are more cultured and if they are not happy in flights they normally give their feedbacks by writings.

As I mentioned before such incidents in the aircraft the Chinese had proven to be superior time and again so there's no need to guess the race.

ICAO must issue a directive that all passenger, holding the People's Republic Of China passport or any other passports, with the place of birth as in PRC, must be carried in the cargo hold & locked.... ha ha ha ha

Bullshit! shitskins are the worst. You haven't seen it yet as majority are still shitty pooor compared to the chinese. go to mumbai take the train once for fun and you know what I mean. as for shitty skins who fly they are the worst animals of teh lot. ask any air stewardess. they behave like they own the airlines, like to molest and threaten to sue if anything goes wrong. worst than snakes. only airline they are fit to fly are cargo lines. even then they would harass and molest the other poor animals including snakes. hahahhahh

globalisation is such a bad thing,it allows all sorts of third world monkeys and idiots with a couple of hundred bucks to be able to travel anywhere.not saying first world passengers are all angels either, but when theres a altercation, its usually the exception rather than the norm.these uncivilised morons should not be allowed outside their village riding on a bus or a cow let alone a jumbo jet.this is a travesty, its like giving the lastest computer to my parents with Intel Xeon E5 with 18 core processor who do not know how to differentiate a potato from a computer.
