Once again, the head honchos at ST have egg on their face. Of course, all this is covered up by the prostitute press, aka the Shit Times. In what is going to be one of the largest orders in recent history (the US Army has to replace several thousand Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles), worth billions of $, ST is a no show in this contest. ST and SAIC partnered to offer a version of the Terrex to the USMC for their recent amphibious combat vehicle, and made it to the finals of the competition before losing.

SAIC is a american company with a lot of experiencing modify and upgrading armoured vehicles for the US army, and other branches. But no experience actually building them. So they thought they would have a winning combination with ST. ST will offer the actual vehicles for the competitions and the SAIC will modify them and enter them into the various competition. Cost and profit sharing is worked out in this JV. The first partnership venture was the contest for the USMC amphibious combat vehicle. The Terrex was offered, and being a mature design progress fairly well, becoming one of the 2 finalist. But then, the HKG govt confiscated the vehicles and now the chinese know everything there is to know about that design.

In the case of the Bradley replacement competition, ST could only offer the Hunter AFV. being a new design, SAIC must have looked it over good and come to the same conclusion that I have. Its a piece of shit. It stands no chance in the competition against General Dynamics and Rheinmetall. Coupled with the change of CEOs in SAIC, SAIC decided not to bid on this competition at all. They will also in future do no more JV with ST on any other bids. SAIC provided no warning to ST, and ST now has no chance and no time to look for a replacement JV partner with the same type of working arrangement. Hence, they are shit out of luck in potentially the biggest armour competition in years.

SAIC Will Not Compete to Replace the US Army’s Bradley Fighting Vehicle

After losing bids for Army and Marine Corps projects, the incoming CEO says the company will focus on upgrade work.

SAIC will not bid to replace the U.S. Army’s Bradley Fighting Vehicle, but will continue to do upgrades on others’ armored vehicles, the company’s incoming CEO said on Tuesday.
The decision to stay out of the multi-billion dollar optionally manned fighting vehicle project marks a change in strategy for the company, which unsuccessfully bid to build light tanks for the Army and Amphibious Combat Vehicles for the Marine Corps.
“We’ve made the decision at this point to change course a bit,” Nazzic Keene, the company’s CEO-elect, said in a Tuesday interview. “We’re not actively pursuing any of the large programs of record of those natures.”
Keene did not name the Bradley replacement program — but it is the Army’s only major vehicle program for which the service is soliciting bids.
She will become SAIC CEO on Thursday, replacing Tony Moraco, who is retiring.
SAIC executives had long touted their company’s unusual approach to bidding on combat vehicles. Instead of building the vehicles and equipping them with high-tech electronics themselves, as General Dynamics and BAE Systems do, SAIC proposed to work with Singapore-based armored vehicle maker ST Engineering to customize foreign-made vehicles for the Army and Marine Corps.

In an interview in January, Moraco said the company was still looking at vehicle modernization work.

“I still believe that we differentiate on complex technology integration programs more so than just staff augmentation across a wide dimension of areas,” he said. “It has to be compatible with our services business model.”

Keene on Tuesday said SAIC “leverage the core competencies” that led it to the armored vehicles market.

“We have just tremendously talented folks that are in the engineering realm and really helping the government think about how to engineer solutions [and] how to prototype solutions,” she said. “We’re focused on that aspect of that industry versus going after the large fixed-price programs of record.”

In March, the Army issued a request for proposals for the Bradley replacement, known as the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle. In June, BAE Systems told Defense News that it would not submit a bid to replace the Bradley.

General Dynamics is expected to enter a bid and Raytheon has partnered with German-tank maker Rheinmetall to compete for the contract. Bids are due in September.

SAIC no loss. They still have chance to upgrade whatever vehicle the US Army chose.
ST / SAF is childish to allow the terrex to be confiscated. Actually even if they were not confiscated they wouldn’t have been selected.

pentagon must have hinted to them not to bother with an outfit that has been compromised by chicoms. so many tiong spies in sg working as shitizens.

Many of the Ah TIong spies work in AStar insitutes ...their education up to Phd was paid for by the SINKapore government. Cost to fund one Ah Tiong is about $1 million. You would not read about it because the Ah Tiong is required to be naturalized sinkee after their first degree; so on paper, it is seen as spending on "sinkees".

LKY School’s Professor Huang Jing identified as ‘agent of influence of a foreign country’: MHA

I'm quite surprised that the PAP govt hasn't yet shut down the Confucius Institute. It's infested with spies from China, masquerading as a 'centre for cultural education'.

PRCs might be actually involved in the assembly and build for these Hunter AFVs. CECA chow ah nehs for sure are. Not to mention don't know how many have infiltrated DSTA, and ST in general. If NSA come to sinkieland and do an audit on how secure all the US weapons sold to Singapore are, they will balls drop.

Good point but as you pointed out in other posts ,the main components like engines, transmission, turrets, computer programs are sourced from other countries like USA or Israel, so how much secrets can you find in basically a assembler rather than a original equipment manufacturer?
I think the proper word to describe these would be Singapore assembled rather than built.

Many components are still build in singapore, like the hull, MEXAS armour, etc. Things like the engine and transmission from the US are no secret as close variants are also sold commercially. But things like composition of the armour, layout of the armour, weak points of the vehicle, the battlefield management system, ballistic computers, the way its all integrated, etc. are all secrets
