SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) recovered around $595,000 worth of drugs in a four-day operation this week, arresting 115 suspected drug offenders.

The drugs seized included cannabis, heroin, Ice, Erimin-5 and Ecstasy tablets, and a small amount of cocaine, ketamine and LSD stamps. The islandwide operations involved raids at budget hotels and nightspots, covering areas such as Balestier, Senja Road, Bukit Merah and Geylang. This took place from Monday (Jan 25), ending on Friday (Jan 29) morning, and was supported by the Singapore Police Force.

CNB officers raided a unit in Fernvale Link at about 8pm on Wednesday, arresting two suspected drug traffickers. The men were aged 29 and 33 respectively. From the "drug store", they seized about 6.2kg of cannabis, 2.4kg of heroin, 120g of Ice, 438 Ecstasy tablets, and 300 Erimin-5 tablets.

The older man's bag had another 87g of methamphetamine, and a 37-year-old woman was arrested in the same unit.

The same night, narcotics officers raided the 33-year-old's house in Punggol Central and recovered another 630g of Ice and 719 Erimin-5 tablets.

According to the CNB in a press release, it also recovered 9.7g of Ice, a digital weighing scale and various drug paraphernalia, including an improvised smoking apparatus from a budget hotel around the Balestier area.

A 35-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were arrested.

Those convicted of trafficking over 500g of cannabis may face the death penalty. Those found trafficking over 15g of pure heroin, which can feed the addiction of some 180 abusers for a week, face a similar punishment.
