Wheat prices is now at two-years low, lower than before Ukraine-war started, my NTUC and TOP bread still so expensive. Gardenia worse, $2.90.

GST-increment has caused inflation exponentially across all sectors and it is not coming down. This is the steepest inflation in recent memory. What kind of government will raise consumption taxes during such period.

No... it's because this island is a money laundering hub, probably an even more hardcore one now considering the ongoing geopolitical winds.

GST just exacerbates the situation. The war is just an excuse.

After collecting so much from GST increment, they still want to increase S&CC? small money also want?

You forgot about the amount of money they squandered during the scamdemic. Tokens, vaccines, mall gantries, ambassadors' wages, hand sanitizer, and the various propaganda ads online, on tv, in print. Now it is time to take everything back. GST is just one method to skin the cat.

It has been said years ago that the GST increase is to help the poor.
Just wondering how many people are able to see it as "ownself helps ownself".

Avoid gardenia. There are others selling at lower prices. Some even with discounts.

Singaporeans face higher bills and fares as inflation bites

SINGAPORE -- Public utility charges and transport fares in Singapore will be raised, starting this month, squeezing household budgets already strained by higher inflation.

"The cost of living in Singapore is getting too high. Buying and maintaining a car has become too costly, and now the water price, too. I can manage while I have income, but how will I live when I retire?" an engineer in his 50s lamented.

Many people believe the increases in utility charges were announced in quick succession in the second half of September, just after an election concluded. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a former member of the ruling People's Action Party and former deputy prime minister, won the Sept. 1 presidential election and was sworn in on Sept. 14.
