Hi,

I have a question and would like to seek advice.

Previously, it was quite easy to differentiate PRs from Citizens. The NRIC of PRs starts with the no. 2.

But this practice was since abolished. Now, the NRIC No. of PR follows the same numbering system as the Citizens. For example, people born in the year 1968 onwards will have the first 2-digits of the NRIC indicating their year of birth.

Hence, is there any way to tell the difference apart from examining the physical NRIC itself (Pink for citizens and blue for PRs) ?

If you spot any IC with the 3rd digit above 4, then for sure naturalised FT.

For example for those true blue born in 1968

0 is Jan - Marc,
1 is Apr - June
2 is Jul - Aug
3 is Aug - Sep
4 is Oct - Dec

Not quite true. Some Ah Pek, citizen of Singapore, born in Singapore, work all his life in Singapore has pink NRIC starting with "2".
