Newly appointed cabinet ministers should openly declare their family's wealth.
Compare this with their wealth before they become ministers and we will all see
how much money they have taken from the public funds over the years in office.

Why don't you and your family declare every cent you have to the whole world? Even communist North Korea and Democratic USA don't do that.

Nobody will be interested to know how much I have cos' I am a small fry. The cabinet ministers are holding public office. They are accountable to Singaporeans on their source wealth during their term in office.

To retort your claim that no country makes their politicians declare their wealth, please see http://articles.cnn.com/2003-06-13/politics/senators.finances_1_financial-disclosure-financial-holdings-ranges?_s=PM:ALLPOLITICS.

The CNN article said the US senators are required to disclose their financial wealth in a form.

myo539 is a PAP IB. His job like the IB is lie, rag, flame and confuse. Declaring wealth is a very normal thing in 1st country. Logic is simple and sound. You are a public office holder. We need to know how much wealth you have and check it, so that you do not dip your hands into the cookie jar or get kickbacks from contracts approved through policies passed. This system is not foolproof for usually the quid pro quo comes after the term of office. Wife, children and if necessary, maid's income and wealth declaration is necessary. We know a fucking crooked MP implied in Parliament that his wealth was with the wife.

Similarly, a stock analyst making a public report on a public listed company is required by law to make a disclosure on his/her vested interest in that company.
This is to prevent biasness in the report which could potentially affect the stock price and the analyst benefit financially from the report.

Company laws also require directors to make a declaration if a contract is awarded to a company in which the directors have a vested interest in the beneficiary company. This is ensure transparency.

As office holders, the ministers have lots of insider information which he or she could easily benefit financially from the information. How do we safe guard public interest? Talk is cheap. Show us the money! Make a declaration.

Another example for you myo539:
Taksin changed some laws when he was PM of Thailand. The new laws benefited his telco company. Now his opponents cry foul and forced him out of office. A classical example of conflict of interest.

Interesting that after several of us pointed out the blatant ignorance of myo, he refuses to hit reply and admit his mistake.

Next time, just do a quick google check before posting lies ok.
