Prem Singh Mankotia | HENB | Jammu | Oct 4, 2022:: A senior Hindu police officer in Jammu and Kashmir was found dead at home late last night, with his throat slit and burn injuries on his body.

His Muslim domestic help, Yasir Ahmed the prime suspect in the case, has been taken into custody.

Hemant Kumar Lohia, the officer in charge of prisons in Jammu and Kashmir, was murdered at a friend’s house on the outskirts of Jammu, where he had been staying with his family while his own home was being renovated.

Mr Lohia, 57, was appointed Director General of Prisons (J&K) in August.

Based on early investigations and security footage, the police are focusing on his 23-year-old Muslim domestic help, hired six months ago.

The killer had first suffocated Lohia to death and also used a broken ketchup bottle to slit his throat and later tried to set the body on fire….

According to reports, Pakistan-backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM)’s affiliate People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed the responsibility for the killing of Jammu and Kashmir DGP (Prisons Department) Hemant Kumar Lohia.

A statement, which was believed to have been issued by the terror group, was circulating on social media post Lohia’s murder.

However, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh said no terror act is apparent as per the Initial investigation. But, the terror angle is also being probed in J&K DG Prison’s murder, says another report.

Police also said that murderer was mentally unstable. But, it is not clear whether the terror agents sometime try to hide their fierce nature by pretending like mental patients and reflect those unreal poses by writing diary under a sinister move.

“So far no terror act is apparent as per the initial investigation but a thorough probe is on to rule out any possibility,” he said….
