SINGAPORE: Train service on the North-East line was twice delayed on Tuesday morning (Sep 8), with the first delay due to a signalling fault between Sengkang and Punggol stations.
At 7.19am, SBS Transit posted a tweet about the delay, telling commuters to expect additional travelling time of about 10 minutes.
About 20 minutes later, it tweeted that free bus rides were available between Punggol and Farrer Park stations.
At 7.54am, the transport operator said train service had resumed, but free buses were still running between the two stations.
However, a press release by SBS at 10.53am said a second delay occurred at about 8.09am, resulting in an additional travelling time of about 25 minutes.
"While we worked at rectifying the problem, we provided free shuttle bus services at designated bus stops at the affected stations between Hougang and Punggol," it said. "Full service resumed at 10.28am. We deeply apologise to all affected commuters for the inconvenience caused."
