In this movie, he was made a slave by Jamuka, this never happened and he never was in jailed in Tangut Kingdom, but, he was a slave when he was a child after the murder of his half brother ( Genghis killed his own half brother when he was ten years old ) and his family was left back by their own tribe. There's a lof of difficulties that Genghis Khan trough, but, he overcame all

Re: Different

A different story ? It didn't say how he went on to recruit more people or tribes to join the band.

Yeah, this movie a bit off-the-road. But we're interested in how he rose to be the greatest conqueror of the known world.

Marking this thread for future..

From what I've read, Genghis was so successful in his conquest due to mongol horsemanship and bow skills on horseback. The europeans adopted the stirrup technology from them and the rest was history. Many Arabs today are the descendants of the Mongol hordes.

It is unlikely any civilisation would be so successful in warfare again.

Some of the northern Ah Nehs have Mongol blood in them... descendants of the Mughals, from the second son of Genghis Khan.

Third son formed the Yuan dynasty in China. He was the 元太宗.

First son (and grandson) invaded Europe.

Youngest son's son (grandson) conquered Persia (Iran).

Acc to some sources, the Russians have chosen in the past to keep Genghis Khan and his legends with a barge pole, due to the brutalities they dont want to associate with for heroicism. So it was a bit surprising I see it is a Russian made movie.

Maybe that's why they have that "atas" air. Some even thought Aryan blood.

That's why the link is distorted. The Aryan race truly refers to the ancient Persian (Iranian) civilisation. They were fearsome warriors and culturally superior to early Europeans.

Hitler's Nazi propaganda used the Aryan tag for their own racist purposes. The truth is Aryans who ravaged Europe did not have blue eyes and blond hair. They would look like central asians today.

there were 4 sons attributed to borte, his empress. he had many more sons and daughters from other consorts, but only the 4 sons from borte were given reigns of the empire after his death.

the 3rd son, ogedei, was his chosen successor. thus ogedei assumed the title of "great khan" after him. ogedei was also given the whole eastern part of the empire. kublai, son of ogedei, formed the yuan dynasty in china.

his 1st son, jochi, died a year before genghis. jochi's khanate was then given to jochi's sons, batu and orda. it was batu khan that invaded russia, hungary and poland, not jochi.

4th son and youngest from borte (genghis had far younger sons from other conquests), tolui, inherited the mongol homeland.

2nd son, chagatai, was given central asia and northern iran. it was thru' chagatai's lineage that mongol invaders descended on northern india via present day afghanistan and pakistan.

chagatai was temperamental and an arsehole. jochi's direct lineage from genghis was questioned as borte was kidnapped and raped after becoming genghis' bride. but anyway, jochi did not heed his father's call for an assembly in 1223, and it was rumored that he was poisoned by his father. chagatai and jochi would have fought each other after his death and brought done the empire, so genghis selected ogedei as his successor.

by virtue of kublai conquering china, moving capital to china and under direct lineage of ogedei, it was no small matter that the capital of the whole mongol empire was in effect shifted to china.

Great summary however the part of Kublai being son of Ogedai is wrong, Kublai was the son of Tolei.

To add a few spice and rumour to what you have written;
1. Jochi in Mongolian language means "guest", so Ghengis Khan knew of Jochi not being his son from the start. Jochi was poisoned by his own father partly because of his dubious bloodline.
2. When the Mongols ruled China, the first night of all Chinese brides were owned by their Mongolian chieftain, hence, there were this "head-smashing of the newly born" ritual that Chinese would kill off all of their first offsprings in order not to have Mongol blood in them. This has been questioned by historian although it remained the truth among many generations.
3. Ogedai throne was passed to Kublai (son of Tolui) due to a blood debt. Ogedai was haunted by many of the ghosts he had killed, and the only way to lay these spirits to rest would require the blood of a close kin. Tolui gave up his life - and Ogedai promised one of Tolui son will the next Khan due to this.

you are correct. kublai was the 2nd son of tolui. ogedei gave hebei province to tolui, and the tolui clan began administering fiefdoms with chinese subjects, exposing them to chinese culture. mongke, eldest son of tolui succeeded the mongolian throne in 1251. after mongke's death in 1259, kublai took command and continued the invasion of sung china. he became great khan in 1260 but had to fight his younger brother ariq boke in a succession war, as ariq also claimed the throne after mongke's death. how can i forget the 3 sons of tolui. thanks!

Other than establishing the Yuan Dynasty in China, direct descendants of Genghis Khan also founded the Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent during the 16th century. The legacy the Mongols bequeathed to India in literature, music, architecture, cuisine, music and painting remains one of the most notable accomplishments of any civilization....

Aryan /ˈɛərjən/ is an English language loanword derived from the Sanskrit ārya ('Noble').[1][2][3] In present-day academia, the terms "Indo-Iranian" and "Indo-European" have, according to many, made most uses of the term 'Aryan' minimal, and 'Aryan' is now mostly limited to its appearance in the term "Indo-Aryan" for Indic languages and their speakers.

These people had the earliest civilisation just after Egypt's. Famous people like Adam or Noah probably came from that region. These Middle East peple were dabbling with technologies, science, medicines, arts, literatures, etc. that influences the west later on.
