CAPITALAND Residential Singapore has appointed renowned international
architect Moshe Safdie as the lead designer for its condominium in Bishan Central.

Located near the Bishan transportation hub and Junction 8 shopping mall, the
residential development will have about 540 units.

For the development, Mr Safdie has introduced a distinctive stepping form that
allows for private garden spaces for a large number of the units.

There will be two 38-storey towers linked by three bridging "sky gardens" to offer
shared garden and leisure spaces. Residents on the upper floors will enjoy views of Bishan Park.

Said Mr Safdie, who is based in Boston: "The concept moves past the traditional
approach of deploying individual towers to create a three-dimensional matrix of
public gardens and private terraces, as well as to frame open views of the city.

"This affords lush expanses of greenery - both horizontally and vertically - and
achieves optimal orientation relative to the sun and prevailing winds, allowing
the units to be naturally ventilated."

The 11,997 sq m site has an estimated gross floor area of 58,786 sq m.
CapitaLand has partnered Mitsubishi Estate Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Mitsubishi Estate, to jointly develop the condominium.

CapitaLand will be the lead development manager for the project, responsible
for the full spectrum of sales and marketing, product design and development,
and project management.

Major projects by Mr Safdie's firm, Safdie Architects, under construction or
recently completed include Marina Bay Sands, a mixed-use integrated resort in
Singapore; the Golden Dream Bay, a high-density residential beachfront community
in Qinhuangdao, China; and the Mamilla Alrov Center, a dynamic urban centre near
the Old City in Jerusalem.

With such high density of residents, parking will be a problem if there is not enough car parks. Also, every morning, traffic in and out of the surrounding roads will be congested with everyone getting to work at the same time. Then PAP will increase road tax, ERP and all sort of excuse to increase their coffers. What a brilliant idea!

As it is now people living in Bishan are experiencing this congestion. Maybe there will be a second CTE.

The situation is bery bery bad over there. You can hardly get up de bus during peak hrs...by de time u manage 2 board...u b late 4 work...few more block of condo and HDB ppl moving in soon...with another addition of super condo there...u might as well walk to work...Oh i 4get...pap policy ish u die ur business...we cont 2 draw millions $$ is all we care...
