SINGAPORE: A manager has been sentenced to five months' jail for posting a video of his naked ex-girlfriend online, among other offences.

39-year-old Wong Kong Wai had broken into the home of his former girlfriend in September last year and planted a small video camera near her bed.

The next day on 6 September 2012, Wong went back to retrieve the camera.

He viewed the footage on 7 September 2012 and felt depressed watching his naked ex-girlfriend kissing her current boyfriend.

On 8 September 2012, Wong uploaded the video onto a website, using the initials of the boyfriend.

Before doing so, he edited the video and blurred out the faces of the couple.

Wong texted the 38-year-old victim on the same day, pretending to have found the video online.

He pretended to help the woman locate the spy camera at her apartment, while she confronted her boyfriend.

On 11 September 2012, Wong surrendered to the police as he was feeling remorseful.

For housebreaking, Wong could have been jailed up to three years and fined.

For installing the spy camera to insult the woman's modesty, he could have been punished with imprisonment of up to one year and fined.

The maximum penalty for uploading the video is three months' jail and a fine.
