A PROPERTY manager was charged on Friday with four counts of corruption involving a total of $12,300 from four people in return for awarding them contracts or expedite payment. Gan Chee Hock 61, was attached to Pearl Bank Apartments as a condominium manager from 2004 to 2008 when he allegedly obtained a total of $1,300 from Mr Leong Kum Sing, owner of Purplez M & E Sevices, as rewards to give the washing of water tanks contract in the condominium to Purplez in 2006 and 2007. He allegedly obtained a bribe in the form of a $3,000 loan from Mr Ho Wei Min, owner of S&E Electrical Services, to award the same contract to the company in 2008. The last charge accuses him of getting an $8,000 loan from Mr Ng Chee Khiong, general manager of Innovente Asia Pacific, to expedite final payment for repainting works done at the condominium to the company in August 2008. Gan's case was adjourned for two weeks to allow him to get a lawyer. His bail of $20,000 has been extended until Jan 22. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years on each charge.
