SINGAPORE: A former bar manager was fined S$8,000 on Friday for living off the earnings of his pub's performing artistes who doubled up as prostitutes.
30-year-old Balamurugan Thiyanamuthi pleaded guilty to one charge of living off the earnings of three Filipino prostitutes, and another charge of managing the trade.
The offences were committed between October last year and March this year.
The women were under his employment at Trafford Bar at 128 Arab Street.
Balamurugan told the trio who were between 22 and 29 years of age, that they were also expected to provide sexual services to customers, where half of their earnings would go toward him.
Court documents revealed that Balamurugan received between S$100 to S$1,500 each time.
He was arrested on March 29 this year.
