Man arrested for providing false contact information

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for providing false contact information as a guarantor when obtaining illegal loans.
The suspect was nabbed at about 12.40pm on Friday in the vicinity of Hougang Ave 9.
Initial investigations revealed that the man had used his previous residential address to act as a guarantor for his ex-wife when obtaining illegal loans from loansharks.
The suspect's actions resulted in loanshark harassment being carried out at the current owner's residence.
Investigations also showed that the suspect had failed to report the change of his residential address within 28 days.
Under the Moneylenders Act, anyone found guilty of providing false contact information to obtain loans from loansharks could be jailed up to 12 months.
Under the National Registration Act, anyone found guilty of failing to report a change of address could be fined up to S$5,000 and jailed up to five years.
