A man allegedly duped two Indian nationals into believing that they had to pay $5,000 each as processing fees for their Singapore permanent residency application.

Chang Siew Kuan, 58, is accused of cheating Mr Johnson Vijayan of the amount along Tanjong Pagar Road between Dec 19 and 21, 2008, and Mr Gopalreddy Sekar between Jan 1 and Feb 28, 2009.

The case was adjourned for a week for him to engage a lawyer.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to three years and/or fine.
