Caught the show on History channel last night on the VAT 69 - Very Able Troopers. Impressive, and they saw real action.

Were they the ones involved in the rescue operation of the equally useless US Delta & rangers forces trapped in Mogadishu? Or are they just ordinary Msian armed forces on peacekeeping missions?

new malaysian super heavy tank tested... with 320 mm gun:

20080416_01+copy.JPG

"Even as the PT-91MX3000 MTV was entering service in 2010, an up-gunned version with the new Lempanganbadang L568 320 mm gun was being considered to keep pace with newer and deadlier tank purchased by the neighbour, but this was cancelled in favour of the new PT-92MX4000 "super-tank" project developed jointly with the Turkey. The PT-92MX4000 was a revolutionary design."

Yes, it was the Malaysians that rescued the US forces in Mogadishu. Think it is just ordinary Malaysian peace keeping forces. The Malaysians didn't want the publicity though.

Singapore did volunteer for Iraq, right? Those volunteers are lucky not to run into some IED or suicide bombers.

Looks like Singapore did serve in Iraq.

The Iraq mission, UNIKOM ended on Oct 2003.

Singapore military and police personnel are currently serving in UN peacekeeping missions in Iraq/Kuwait (UNIKOM), Eritrea/Ethiopia (UN Mission in Eritrea/Ethiopia or UNMEE) and East Timor (UN Mission of Support in East Timor or UNMISET), and also at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York.
