KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor said Hindu mother Loh Siew Hong should regain custody of all three of her children but said they must remain Muslims despite being unilaterally converted as minors by her ex-husband.

Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported him saying that reversing their conversion was “impractical” and might “further complicate the situation”, and that they should remain Muslims for the good of all.

The remark came after Indira Gandhi Action Team’s (Ingat) leader Arun Dorasamy reportedly pushed for the children’s conversion to be cancelled.

“Doing that would only muddy the good ties that the Hindus have with Muslims in the country.

“From an Islamic perspective, one’s faith in Islam cannot be reversed through a court decree, but only if that person voluntarily wants to leave Islam without any pressure from anyone,” he was quoted saying by the news portal.

Wan Salim added that authorities should allow Loh to meet her children as much as they prefer at venues deemed safe, and that she could take her children back home periodically under the watch of the police.

“Islam does not prevent family members of different faiths to live under one roof. In fact, they can even share meals together so long as the food is not considered to be haram,” he said….

Malaysian court already state that unilateral conversion is illegal.
The children can retain their original faith although muslim religious department will create hindrance.
Right now, the mother just happy to get her children back.
Induan men have this tendency yo vonvert their children to islam just to annoy the mother snd make it difficult for her to gain custody. Lucky for mother, the father is in jail for drug offences and less therefore less hassle.

And civil court is the atas court in the country, and above religious courts. Religious courts must amend laws to comply with civil law.

Might be a good idea for these kids to play along...less hassle n can always eat haram stuff on the side. N if they move to cina dominated areas ..less chance of being ratted on

When islamic laws have to comply with civil laws, it showed that sharia laws is not peRfECT. Indonesia has greater religion freedom than mudland.

Indonesia does not have a " malays must be muslim " clause. In fact, about 20% of Indonesian malays are not muslims, which is a pretty signifacant number.
Sabah and sarawak do not have such clause as their bumis are of various faith.

Yet, people can be forcefully converted to the mohameddan religion. This mufti is a moron, just like all the other jiuhu muftis.

Ten muftis will have 10 different interpretation of religious laws. KL have 9 states with 9 sets of religious laws. All different.

That's very confusing. Perhaps jiuhu muftis should get a good white man to standardize their islamic laws the same way their koran was standardized in the British protectorate of Egypt in 1924. A good white man can do the job. After all, the moslem god allah says that his koran is like a good white man.

This should be the job the minister in charge of Islam.

No use as every muslim will have their own intepretation. Eventually all will quarell with one another as to which one is correct.

Koran have many contradicting verses, why muslims always fail to notice and apply the good verses?

Makes sense at all levels.

They should remain Muslim if they know what's good for all.

Minors can be forcibly converted to Muslims but cannot be forcibly converted to other religions because that will not be good for all.

The children can choose to leave Islam if they prove they are leaving on their own accord.

And if they do successfully leave, the consequences are not stated, unfortunately.

In malaysia, a chink or indian converted to islam will enjoy higher governmental benefits than non muslim malays.
