Maid lied she was molested
By Elena Chong, Court Correspondent
AN INDONESIAN maid who was angry with her employers for locking her out of the flat lied that she had been molested. Sutilah, 33, was jailed for two months on Wednesday after admitting to giving false information to the police on May 30 that she was molested by her employer's 58-year-old son.
The court heard that she returned to the flat at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 at about 2.30am that day after an outing. She could not open the door as it was locked from within. She called for police assistance. She further alleged that she had been previously molested by the victim on three occasions. The victim, a married man, was arrested and placed in the lock-up for close to 11 hours.
When questioned, Sutilah maintained her allegations but came clean almost seven hours later. She said she was upset that the victim had locked her out despite sharing an intimate relationship with her. She also admitted that she had lied about being molested as she had been angry with the victim.
