Really the logic is difficult to comprehend. Increasing GST helps to reduce income taxes. But the low income people are the ones who are not paying income tax. So how does it benefit them? Good advice for individuals but do realise that when they get out of that 20%, other poor unlucky souls will go in to take their places. Social mobility is up and down, it is a revolving door to that 20%. Remember no matter how much things change, there will always be a bottom 20% as there will always be a top 1%. So unless there are adequate social services available to alleviate misery for these bottom 20%, they are always gonna bear the brunt.
