A group of twenty four adventurers comprising of twenty one Singaporeans and three locals including a one-year-old child were stranded for thirty-six hours in the vicinity of Sungai Lembakoh within the Endau Rompin National Park due to flooding of the main jungle track road.

It was reported that the group had been denied permission and was forewarned not to proceed with their planned trip to the national park by the park officials but the adamant group defied the order.

According to the director of Johor National Park, Suhairi Hashim, the park had been closed to the public since December 1 due to bad weather and this has been conveyed to the group concern but they refused to pay heed and proceeded with the journey.

The group entered the park last Saturday in five separate four wheel drive vehicles and failed to return from the park the next day as planned.

Meanwhile, Senior Fire & Rescue officer, Ramli Harun said, they have to seek the assistance of their air unit based in Subang to fly in a helicopter to help with the rescue mission.

All the twenty four stranded victims were successfully rescued by 12.30pm the next day and was reported to be in safe condition.

Efforts to interview the victims were unsuccessful as they were immediately put on a bus heading straight back to Singapore.

The Singapore Foreign Affairs issued a press statement confirming the incident and stated that all the twenty one victims were back safely.

During the rescue operations, several officials from the Singapore Consul office in Johor Bahru were also present to assist in co-ordinating the rescue operations.

The spokesman further said that the Singapore government expressed its appreciation to the Malaysian authorities for their commendable rescue effort.

They should display the photos of the 20 heros. We will exempt the one year kid but the parents should be charged in court for being dumb.

Just as the in the cases in Macritchie, the tour leader will claim that they did not get lost but decided to stay longer so that the weaker ones can rest. In this day of GPS, waypoints can still get lost in a small area.

And did someone mention that half the clowns underwent at least 2 years of NS. What the hell were doing SAF training.

They must be made to pay for the rescue and logistics involved to get them home safely. Hit them where it hurts the most.....in their pockets.

Forgive them, they knew not what they were doing

They thought it was just ponding

Singapore with everything international standard sure kena international standard of flooding, so when they saw that the flood in Orchard Road and was assured that it was international standard & world number one was only that deep, Malaysia with nothing of international standard & everything of world number one coming from behind would definitely not flood like what they have seen in orchard road, that's why they proceeded! Some more driving 4x4 vehicle which is of international standard & world number one, flood water are just ponding only mah!

Haha but did it occur to you guys... it is not too bad being a Sinkie afterall. I'm sure the MY helicopters came to the rescue at the request of the Sinkie consul. If you are a Malaysian, the same will not happen because the MY consul opens 10am to 3pm 5 days a week excluding Friday

In other words, if you have a consul that will take care of you overseas, it is ok to be dumb

tun_dr_m;917089.......................... Malaysia sent helicopter to safe the ass of the morons. Should ..............

It is "save" and not "safe"

Safe" is being careful about something.

"Save" is helping something or someone in need.

Sepcific Definition

"Safe"-Free from harm, injury, or risk; untouched or unthreatened by danger or injury; unharmed; unhurt; secure; whole; as, safe from disease; safe from storms; safe from foes.

"Save"-To make safe; to procure the safety of; to preserve from injury, destruction, or evil of any kind; to rescue from impending danger; as, to save a house from the flames

Any fool will know that all Malaysian National Parks are closed every year in December due to the annual monsoon season. Obviously these fools did not take heed and land themselves in hot soup and should be chastised for their stupidity.

These dumbos even brought along a young child with them... Going to a jungle expedition in treacherous conditions with a young child... How dumb can they get..???   Lucky for them, their stupidness did not cost them dearly this time.. Maybe they should just stick to Pasir Ris park the next time they want to seek an adventure..

I've checked... all barbeque pits and camping areas are fully occupied with tents over the long weekend... from Pasir Ris to Changi

For the stupidity shown, I bet there is a PAP supporter amongst their leaders.

Anyway its an expensive lesson for them as their vehicles were left behind. I hope when they go back, their vehicles would be stuck under a rock wagered away by the flood.

How come no CSI on who was involved?

nothing heroic. just plain stupidity and arrogance, typical of of alot of sinkies. in the first place there was a notice that the park was closed and you need a permit. they ignore both. that's why alot of sinkies dies when on holiday overseas. a few weeks ago another sinkie drown in NZ galcier river when commonsense would tell them it was dangerous. the malaysians should have just left them in the park to rot and do nature a service. somebody once said accidents are nature way of getting rid of such stupid idiotic people . the malaysians should bill them the costs of chartering a helicopter for 1 day and all the manpower costs involved, like what the US park rangers do if you do something against the law and get yourself into trouble. Damn cr@p and b@stards. wasting everybody's time. such people would also get lost and drown in bukit timah tiny forest(quite common and a joke considering it is more like a garden compared to malaysian or brunei real jungle in temburong) or botanical gardens.
