SINGAPORE: Police have arrested an 18—year—old male for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.
He was nabbed on Saturday, after police acted on a report at about 1pm that paint was splashed on a unit at Hougang Street 22.
The suspect left the scene before police arrived.
But officers cruised around the area and spotted him behaving suspiciously near a bus—stop along Hougang Avenue 3.
As the officers were approaching the suspect, he turned away and fled on foot.
The officers chased him and managed to arrest him.
Police said the suspect had with him loanshark—related items such as handphones with suspected debtors’ records and cans of paint.
Early investigations found that he’s a debtor—turned—runner and had been operating in Hougang housing estate.
The suspect will be charged in court on Monday.
