In both his English and Mandarin speeches, his delivery was classic LTK style - a wry smile, squinting his eyes in a knowing manner, the fiery and passionate tone of what he stands for. Most importanly, he comes across as believable, and not say for the sake of winning votes. Even as he was defending the WP's philosophy towards other political parties.

I think our ministers should be less adversarial and less confrontational when they give speeches or talk to the press. Don't make too many promises. Be sincere, be honest, be frank and be down to earth and touch the hearts and souls of the people.
Even the way you walk tells alot about you.The way you interact with the public and with the press. The way you talk about your opponents and the residents and voters reveals a lot about your motives.
Yes, we all need to improve on our PR image. We need to talk with the people and not talk down to the people. No threats please and no carrots please - enough is enough.

The PAPpy ministers had it so good over the decades. Now faced with real challenges, there have no bloody clue as to how to behave. So, they just go on the offensive. Their entitlement is now being challenged and they are fighting to keep those entitlements except that the WP is making sure that those behaviours get the limelight.

LHL was "introduced" by Ass Rajaratnam and seconded by Shortie Dhana all because of LKY, whereas the latter fought his way into the hearts, souls and minds of the downtrodden because of his humility and honesty.
LTK is a diamond that cuts deep.
Maybe if LHL lives up to 90, he may have attained 35% good attributes of LTK.

LTK is playing the good and responsible opposition without resorting to antics and theatricals.That is why he is able to survive so long. But it is also unfortunate that the last 30 years of opposition has also been ineffective. That is one of the reasons why we have what it is now in Singapore.Good or bad, no thanks to LTK.

Sorry. It is not just LTK and WP in the Opposition but also SDP, SPP, RP, NSP and SDA. But only WP and for while SPP have got themselves into parliament after SDP lost it all back. If LTK has adopted a different strategy, maybe there wouldn't be any opposition members in parliament today. If you have listened carefully to his speech last night, if the people are willing to put in more WP members into parliament large enough to be able to threaten the seat of government, the WP will change its strategy to offer alternative forms of government. He joked that this would be in answer to the PM's hope to see WP as an alternative government.
