thoughts rom the wigan match

3)How many players have been sent off trying to two-foot tackle Alonso this season. I have count 4/5 already. Why? either Alonso has a lanjiao face or he's real good. How many times have that extra man won Liverpool the match.
=>Hmm.. I'd rather think that he has good ball sense. Yup, he was the cause of the sent-offs during Man C and last nite's Wigan game. I wonder (hoping actually...) if he can get one of the Chelsea player sent off as well this coming week?

4)nice to see Benitez going for broke and change formation to 2 CB + 1 DMC and all out attack after Wigan went a men down. But will he try that when it is 11 vs 11?
=> Nah... dont think so.

Atletico Madrid 1-1 Liverpool (HT 0-1)

A. Madrid deserved the point for coming back strong during the second half.
a match with a lot of bad decisions by the linemen again.
what is outside - counted and what is not outside - not counted.
both manager must be pretty mad with the officials.

On the field the Reds seem to doing ok but off the field all does not appear well especially since the US financial crisis went across the Atlantic. Gillet and Hicks have borrowed up to their eyeballs to finance the Reds purchase and badly need to restructure and refinance the loan which is headed by RBS. Word has it that they finally now want out because of the liquidity crunch and have appointed Merrill Lynch to find a buyer. However their asking price appears to be high. DIC have thus far been put off. No $$$, no new stadium, saddled with debts, what is eventually going to happen?:(

a little bit worries about the financial situation.
those 2 damn yankies, when DIC wants to buy over, they should have sold off.
now DIC is put-off by the asking price,we are in the danger of being the second Leeds.
hope yankies will lower their asking price and DIC will come in for it again.

this is a great night for all the Reds.
we not only beaten Chelsea 1-0,but also broken the longest EPL's home record hold by Chelsea.
first Manchester United, now Chelsea and will be waiting for Arsenal.
this time,we do not need to come back from behind,we take the lead in the first half and hold on.
a great team effort,we manage to limit Chelsea to few shooting and scoring chances.

going to have a sweet dream tonight.

Thoughts from Chelsea vs Liverpool (0-1)

1) Liverpool got a goal in the 10min and comfortably defended until the end. we never look too troubled against Chelsea's attacks at least from my TV perceptive. Chelsea seem to have given up by the 75 min, the expected "kitchen sink tactics" by Chelsea never happened. pool held out.

2)Reina did not have a PROPER save to make for the whole match. That say how good Liverpool defense was and how awful Chelsea was.

3)Chelsea play badly but Liverpool made them look bad.

4)Riera was vital to our gameplan - lots of tricks, good holding up the ball ability and drew lots of fouls. Without him, pool would have no outlets to release the ball to for breathing space. Babel lack the technical ability to do the same job. Yossi Benayoun too lightweight.

5)Is this the year for number 19?

What I took from this game is that the Reds finally look like a balanced well composed tight outfit. Not just reliant on 1 or 2 players but able to play solidly and confidently from the back all the way to attack with self belief and with a strong bench to back things up. The back 4 were really outstanding, in particular Carragher and Riera appears to have turned out to be bargain choice buy by Rafa, so much for Gareth Barry's 18m pounds price tag! Credit should also go to Rafa for his excellent tactics and game plan, different from previous seasons where he would go into such matches cautiously playing for a draw.

Still early days chaps, so let's try and keep a lid on expectations, but if the Reds can consistently maintain this type of form through the season than I see no reason why it should not finally break the 19 year old wait and welcome the title to back home to Anfield. The hunger and self belief is there. All it now needs is consistency and abit luck. Come on you Reds!

yesteday was one of my happy,so far.
we must stay focus, concentrate and together...teamwork is the key.
when key player is out, someone will step-up,this is very important.
let see if we can complete the hat-trick of winning against our top 3 contenders for the title.
will be eagerly waiting for the match against Arsenal.

Just recalled one moment which gave me a fright was when Reina 'fouled' Kalou/Maluda(?) in the box but luckily the Chelsea striker was ruled offside instead. Lucky break for the Reds because not only would Chelsea have been awarded a penalty but the Reds would have been down to ten men as Reina was the last man.

2)Reina did not have a PROPER save to make for the whole match. That say how good Liverpool defense was and how awful Chelsea was.

Liverpool put up a excellent defensive display.
As the match went on, it was easy to see that Chelsea attacking trio of kalou, Anelka, Florent Malouda didn't have the attacking guile to get in behind pool back 4 and create a easy opportunity.
Frank Lampard and Deco found their roads to goals blocked by pool central defensive shield of 2 CB + 2 DM.

When all options failed, you need route one / long ball football to create havoc in Liverpool pen box and crack the defensive shield. To play the long ball - you need armored tank / brickwallcrusher Drogba to ram through the pool defensive shield.

we got bitting dogs like Kuyt and Keane to harass the opposition defense. Torres's no holding up the ball targetman. That's where a meatball shield like Emile Heskey could come in handy. Heskey is like a old WWII tank that could still shoot when needed.

Liverpool is now on top of the table with 3 points lead. Been a long time since Liverpool was last in this kind of position, and reaching this position after beating top contenders Chelsea and Manchester United. Cling on till year end, and see how.

Portsmouth game on Weds. shall be a good gauge because after beating the Red Devils the Reds could only draw with Stoke and this was at Anfield. Hope the Reds maintain their consistency against Pompey to hold on to top spot. If Hull draw or beat Chelsea lagi best, topping on the cake:biggrin:
