LHL said he will seriously consider, he never said he will. So there is no issue on integrity here.

In his response to this issue, he actually gave a direct response immediately and said that he has already considered it and have decided not to lift the ISA due to the threat of terrorism to Singapore, coming even from our own citizens. It is indeed a valid consideration.

And in case you are not aware, the change in laws in Malaysia is simply cosmetic. They can detain w/o trial with their new laws. So are the people who demand abolishing the ISA by Najib?

Fully agree. Those who agree and actually support the ISA are so blinded with fear by the word "Muslims" that they fail to realise that the ISA is nothing but a political tool and they, for political expediency, can and where necessary, will be next to be detained under this Act even if they are not Muslims.

It could have been used as a political tool but it is not just that as you said, it did prevent communism and terrorism. You can't be a singaporean and not know it right?

"Muslim fundamentalism" is simply the current excuse and flavour of the decade for the ISA just as "Communism", "Marxism" were past excuses and flavours of previous decades.

Muslim fundamentalism is a real issue and they have killed millions all over the world just last century.

The largest Muslim country in the world (Indonesia) does not need the ISA to deal with "Muslim problems". It is dealt with by its courts. The country up north with a Muslim majority and substantial Chinese population and Indians has also repealed the ISA in acknowledgement that there is no requirement for a political tool to deal with what is effectively a criminal problem.

Thats why they have so many people killed by Islamic terrorists there and these terrorists are still killing minorities today even in a secular society like Indonesia.

Unless he is able to convince anyone that his Cabinet and Parliament managed to carry out their "seriously consider" in less than 24 hours after the Malaysian announcement, one can only conclude that not only is this dauphin dishonest but that he is a two-bit liar as well.

This arsehole probably did not realise that his commitment made 20 years ago has not disappeared but can still be dug up.

He actually considered it even before the Malaysian tweak or repackaged their ISA.
