Lawyer and District Judge Salary and Career in Singapore.

Was reading the post on "Lawyers: the Good, the Ugly and etc".

Does anyone know how much a District Judge (DJ) gets paid after 10 years in service? Is their pay higher or equal to good lawyers?
What does it take to be a District Judge? Very Smart and very Capable?
I read in Google that DJs are appointed to office by the Chief Justice and President of Singapore?

How is the work of DJs like? Very hectic or easy one? In a country like S'pore (autocratic government), the DJs work life is a simple easy one Iguess.
After being a District Judge, what is the Career path like for them?
Why do Senior Counsels are not likely to be keen on DJs job/career? Are DJs not a good career option then?
Why do good paid lawyers are working in private firms rather than pursuing the career of DJs, as DJs hand out the verdict eventually?

Past and Present lawyers please help to respond as you are fully aware of the legal system in S'pore!
