The pap claims that Jewel is funded by the private joint-venture company set up by CAG and CapitaMalls Asia. But dont be deceived by pap's claim. Go deeper and check who owns CAG and CapitalMalls Asia. Once you are clear on that, you will know that Jewel is funded by Singaporean tax payers' money
This is the problem with the pap. Increased spending will result in demand for more money. If the pap continues to pay $1.5k each for bus benches, $800k for a dust bin centre, $400k for a campaign to name Marine Bay as "Marine Bay", $1.03B to build a big garden, $1B for a Sports Hub which is now a white elephant, $1.7B for a retail mall. losses at Temasek Holdings, of course PAP will need more money.
Traditional financial wisdom dictates that cutting down on wastage and unnecessary expenditure will mean controlled spending and no need to increase taxes. Cut down on spending like buying F35s when our F15s and F16s are more than enough for the next 20yrs or more. Buy when needed not waste
