Jail for driving 'borrowed' car

WHILE disqualified from driving, Ng Boon Leng drove around in a 'borrowed' car - with forged licence plates. And to ensure that if he did get a summons, it would be mailed to his home in Hougang, Ng, 29, used the same plate numbers as his father's car. But his ploy was found out at a police roadblock on July 7 and on Wednesday, the cellphone retailer was jailed for two years and three months by a district court. Besides displaying false licence plates and a fake road tax disc, Ng had driven without insurance cover. He also committed theft and conspired with two friends to buy three Rolex watches, worth a total of $17,100, with stolen credit cards. His sentence also disqualifies him from driving for the next six years.
