Waste of electricity to turn on F1 floodlights in the day

STOMPer edong75 noticed that these floodlights outside the Ritz Carlton hotel were turned during the day for the past three days and wonders if the organisers were aware that it was a waste of electricity and money.

In his contribution to STOMP, the STOMPer wrote:

"I found these floodlights and the other ones on the opposite being tested in broad daylight for past three days.

"Is there any one checking on the status of light or they are simply turned on for no reason.

"Is the government or our taxpayers footing the bill for this wastage of electricity?"
