U rather they pay u zero because u didn't update them on your health status?

Nope, i rather they do not exclude anything untill it's proven malignant. For example, if anyone's wife/daughter has a benign growth or lump on her breasts and already certified non-cancerous and removed safely, with doctor's letter stating the procedure wasn't related to cancer, insurance companies will exclude coverage for breast cancer when you upgrade or buy new policies. Women will know that from time to time, due to hormonal changes and pregnancy, lumps and benign cysts will appear on scans of their breasts.

Now, if they exclude subsequent policies if proven malignant, that i understand, but even if benign, they will exclude. Therefore, i would strongly suggest going overseas to do checkup. There is not deception involve as when you sign the questionnaire, you can sincerely tick the box that says you do not have anything malignant, with doctor's letter backing it. This AIA case, the old lady had diabetes, now she claiming compensation for cancer, unless AIA can prove that her cancer was caused by her diabetes, isn't it unfair to deny compensation? Any doctors here can confirm cancer can be caused by diabetes? I have no idea...

The way I see it, AIA is just trying to shirk the bill, so if you never report unrelated illnesses, they'll have an excuse not to pay up on your condition.

Diabetes can lead to many complications. It is a serious illness. And the insurer doesn't have to prove that diabetes can lead to cancer. Even if u suffer from a cough for a month, u still need to declare.

Insurer's interest is to provide maximum return to their agents and agencies. The policy holders are last in their minds. With the money they collected from each and every policy holders, they can cover everyone if they want to for all kinds of disease.
I suggest private hospital come up with their very own insurance. That will cut out the middle men. Money collected goes to better pay for nurses and upgrade services.plus cover policy holders.

They are very interested in your Premium only. My claim for my medical expenses had been delayed after initial rejection. I got to go down to hospital and prove other wise. Resubmitted all documents again. LAST HEARD from my agent, they lost my file. Kns, reject your claim double fast, but when they need to cough out money, they delay and delay.

Insurance company are just crook pretending to give you a service.

With this kind of logic, no wonder insurance firms can make obscene amount of money year after year, without fail. It's like operation a casino, sure win!

That's why do not get checkups in SG, with no records here, how are they going to prove and void any claims? Granted, nothing is fool-proof, but no reason to make it easier for these companies to reject claims and i'm not even referring to genuine cases of insurance fraud, just those suspected, cleared and given clean bill of health.

Maybe people here are rich enough to forgo such coverage or can't be bothered, but certainly not me. What's the worst that could happen in worst case scenario? a) One gets cancer and insurance company refuse payout as local records detailed very clearly one's failure to disclose. b) On the other hand, one gets cancer and there is a chance that insurance company cant refuse payout base on failure to disclose as they have nothing on hand to prove otherwise.

Even if in the end, somehow insurance companies found out, then it is the same as scenario one, it doesn't get any worse. Furthermore, health checkups, as with many generic drugs are easily 30-40% cheaper away from SG, so one saved quite a fair bit already. Go figure.
