I was at Parkway Parade this morning and saw that Giant has changed Opening hour from 9am to 10am because of tight labour. This is good for productivity. Supermarkets were able to open 24hrs and open at 8am because they had an abundance of cheap labour. Singapore should wean businesses of cheap labour so that we don't need too many cheap labour to work in Singapore.

Besides supermarkets, other industries which can improve productivity are:

1. Construction companies
2. Petrol stations
3. Factories
etc

They can reduce cheap labour by restructuring work processes, reorganise work flows.

Even with reduced foreign manpower, SG can still achieve more than what it is doing now.

Does the PAP have the courage to stand up to businesses, MNCs, SG International Chamber of Commerce, etc and compel them to reduce manpower needs?

Compare the crowd at Mustafa Centre and the shoppers at Giant PWP and you can tell how each other's business is run. MC is dong well because it sells everything a shopper needs, except coffin. Giant sells things which you can find in any other shops.

MC has got loads of ah nehs to run the business; Giant cannot find even one lorry load of ah nehs to work for them. Manpower is not the issue in running a successful business. It is about business strategy and planning, including using automation and robotics.

The boss of MC walks around his mall wearing slippers to check on his operations. Any one ever seen Giant boss?

Sinapor has to show the world it is a busy country, one PM to do this, and another 2 DPMs to do that. If you are a half dead country like Brunei, who wants to come? Even foreigners flock to sinapor, illegals, legals, immigrants, etc. To these foreigners, getting to sinapor is like getting to paradise, where pappies welcome them with open arms and legs.

There are now two types of sinaporans; those born/bred in the country and those imported foreigners who became shitizens. These foreigners do not really care if the island sink or swim; they can always balek kampong to flee any crisis in sinapor. As for the locals, the island is their home.

So, if you want to topple the pappies, you need to look at this group of foreigner sinaporans. Are they with you or are they pappies' supporters? When at the polls, these foreigner sinaporans will still support pappies out of fear of living under an oppo Govt which may kick them out. Nationalism is a strong factor to win votes.
