Are we now going to be subject to Islamic laws??? Sharia law? This is getting very scary to be a Canadian. We are Canada and a democratic country and as such our financial structure, aka Banking system, has always withstood downturns in economy, stock market crashes etc.

120-ft chariot crashes at Karnataka temple fair, no casualties

Express News Service

Updated:7th Apr, 2024 at 8:59 AM

BENGALURU: A 120-foot-tall chariot used in the Huskur Madduramma temple fair lost its balance and came crashing down near a super market at Kammasandra in Anekal taluk on Saturday. Police said no causalities were reported even as hundreds of devotees took part in the fair.

The historical annual Huskur Madduramma Temple fair draws huge crowd, as thousands of devotees, from nearby villages take part in the fair. Many devotees from neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu also take part in the fair every year.

On Saturday, the chariot was coming from Heelalige to Huskur, when the incident took place. The chariot was pulled with the help of ropes tied to bullock carts and tractors. While the chariot was being pulled, it started to slightly lean, and within no time fell to the ground.

A video of the chariot falling has gone viral on social media.

Cow urine touted as cure-all in India

Alongside life-size posters of Hindu nationalist leaders, Indian political activists can now buy lotions, potions and pills to cure anything from cancer to hysteria to piles — all made from cow urine or dung.

Alongside life-size posters of Hindu nationalist leaders, Indian political activists can now buy lotions, potions and pills to cure anything from cancer to hysteria to piles — all made from cow urine or dung.

A new goratna (cow products) stall at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) souvenir shop is rapidly outselling dry political tracts, badges, flags and saffron-and-green plastic wall clocks with the face of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

“You won’t believe how quickly some of the products sold out,” says Manoj Kumar, who runs the souvenir shop along with his brother, Sanjeev, at the BJP headquarters in a plush central New Delhi neighborhood. “The constipation medicine is a hot seller.”

But the biggest seller is a “multi-utility pill” that claims to cure anything from diabetes to piles to “ladies’ diseases.”

“It’s a miraculous cure” the container declares. A month’s supply costs a little over $1.

Another cure-all is Sanjivani Ark, a liquid medicine that battles cancer, hysteria, and irregular periods, among other things.

Cow dung toothpaste?
In addition to medicines, the goratna products range from cow dung toothpaste, to detergents, a skin-whitening cream, baldness and obesity cures, soap and a cow urine “antiseptic aftershave.”

Siddarth Singh, a spokesman for the Hindu nationalist BJP, which has long campaigned on the sanctity of the cow, said the stall aimed to promote village industry, one of the biggest employers in India.

“If you go back in the history of India, this belongs to our culture. There’s no commercial value to us. Village industry in this country needs to be promoted.”

The use of cow products in India is centuries old. The five key products — butter, milk, curd, urine and dung — are collectively known as panchgavya and are an important part of ayurvedic medicine.

Hair products may be next
The cow is worshipped by Hindus, who make up some 82 percent of India’s over 1 billion people. Cow slaughter is banned in most parts of the country.

The goratna products, made by a cooperative in the northern “cow-belt” state of Uttar Pradesh, are rapidly gaining in popularity.

“Once they use it, they are coming back and they are bringing their friends and their family and their neighbors back with them,” says Kumar.

Singh already uses the detergent and is thinking of experimenting further.

“I’m tempted to try something for the hair — let’s hope,” he grins, running his fingers through his thinning crop.

Benefits of Cow Dung - A Human Ignored Gift

ABSTRACT

Cow is considered as mother and even as god. It is one of the largest domesticated mammals. The meaning of the word panchagavya in Sanskrit is "five cow-derivatives" consisting of three direct constituents like cow urine, dung, milk and the two derived products are curd and ghee. Cow dung and urine are the excretory products. Cow dung is an undigested residue of consumed food material of cow combined with faeces and urine, lignin, cellulose and hemicelluloses being the major composition. Cow dung is an indigestible plant material from the intestine of cow released on to the ground. Generally, faeces, either from an animal or human is not a desired topic of conversation. Cow dung is worth discussing. It's a useful material and helps us in a variety of ways. Cow urine has been used as an antimicrobial not only for rituals but also therapeutically. But cow dung has been mostly used as a firework and/or biofertilizer in the form of cow patties. Researchers have ignored the therapeutical benefits of cow dung which is evident from the smaller number of pharmaceutical products in market amidst of its miraculous benefits. This review discusses about the existing traditional therapeutics and the respective medicinal property of cow dung and tries to change the mindset of the scientific community to carry out the further research in the future

Modi @ Reliance hospital opening: 'Plastic surgeon may have fixed elephant's head on Ganesha'

Hindu nationalists have long propagated their belief that many discoveries of modern science and technology were known to the people of ancient India. But now for the first time an Indian prime minister has endorsed these claims, maintaining that cosmetic surgery and reproductive genetics were practiced thousands of years ago.

As proof, Narendra Modi gave the examples of the warrior Karna from the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata and of the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha.

“We can feel proud of what our country achieved in medical science at one point of time,” the prime minister told a gathering of doctors and other professionals at a hospital in Mumbai on Saturday. “We all read about Karna in the Mahabharata. If we think a little more, we realise that the Mahabharata says Karna was not born from his mother’s womb. This means that genetic science was present at that time. That is why Karna could be born outside his mother’s womb.”

Modi went on: “We worship Lord Ganesha. There must have been some plastic surgeon at that time who got an elephant’s head on the body of a human being and began the practice of plastic surgery.”

While much of Modi’s speech was devoted to how to improve healthcare facilities in modern India, he also dwelt on ancient India’s “capabilities” in several fields.

“There must be many areas in which our ancestors made big contributions,” he said. “Some of these are well recognised. If we talk about space science, our ancestors had, at some point, displayed great strengths in space science. What people like Aryabhata had said centuries ago is being recognised by science today. What I mean to say is that we are a country which had these capabilities. We need to regain these.”

This is not the first time that Modi has publicly articulated such ideas. But he did so earlier as chief minister of Gujarat state, and not as prime minister. He also wrote the foreword to a book for school students in Gujarat which maintains, among other things, that the Hindu God Rama flew the first aeroplane and that stem cell technology was known in ancient India.

Premature baby girl rescued from her dead mother's womb dies in Gaza after five days in incubator

Sabreen Jouda died in a Gaza hospital after her health deteriorated and medical teams were unable to save her, said her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh

A premature Palestinian infant, rescued from her mother's womb shortly after the woman was killed in an Israeli airstrike, has died, her uncle said Friday.

Sabreen Jouda died in a Gaza hospital on Thursday after her health deteriorated and medical teams were unable to save her, said her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh.

Sabreen's home in the southern Gaza city of Rafah was hit by an Israeli airstrike shortly before midnight Saturday. Her parents and 4-year-old sister were killed.

First responders took the bodies to a nearby hospital, where medical workers performed an emergency cesarean section on her mother, Sabreen al-Sakani, who was 30 weeks' pregnant. The infant was kept in an incubator in a neonatal intensive care unit at another hospital until she died five days later.

Al-Sheikh told The Associated Press that Sabreen was buried next to her father on Thursday.

More than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed during the Israel-Hamas war, according to local health officials, who say about two-thirds of the dead are women and children. The health officials don't differentiate among combatants and civilians in their count.

Israel declared war on Hamas and unleashed a pulverizing air and ground offensive in Gaza in response to the militants' Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel. The militants killed about 1,200 people in Israel and took another 250 hostage.

More than half of Gaza's 2.3 million people have sought refuge in Rafah, where Israel has conducted near-daily raids as it prepares for a possible offensive in the city.
