IDA probes claim about employee's 'fake' MBA

IDA defended their prize employee for the following reasons:

1. The employee was not recruited based on her fake degree
2. The employee believe that the fake degree is bona fide

Here's the thing, whether the employee believes the degree is bona fide or not is immaterial.

The employee has a fake degree and has put her honesty and integrity into question. The employee must take responsibility for having her fake degree, regardless of what the employee believes whether bona fide or otherwise and leave the Singapore public service.

If the employee gets away by saying she believes that the fake degree is bona fide, can Amos Yee get away by saying he believes in freedom of speech? Why charged Amos when he thought he is entitled to free speech? Can a person who took money from the company cash box get away by saying she believes it is "bona fide" to take the money from the cash box? Can a person who abuse a pet get away by saying she is entitled to train her pet by abuse?

Many innocent people have to take responsibility when they erred. Does not matter whether they erred on purpose or unintentionally, the bottom line is they erred and they took responsibility. Whether the employee believes her fake degree is bona fide or otherwise, whether IDA took her fake degree into consideration in her employment or otherwise does not matter, the bottom line is she has a fake degree and she has to take responsibility for her fake degree.

Why IDA choose to let the fake employee have a free ride is unbelievable and will truly stunned the people in the ballot box :(

really stupid reply from IDA. next time money counterfeiters can also says" they believe the counterfeit cash was bona fide". pirated goods traffickers can also use the same line. Heroin traffickers can also says the they believe the "flour" they were carrying were bona fide flour.

Boss she's in back office job doing some programming not deciding Singapore future or what?! I agree stat board should have better checks than pvt. In this case both sides hv failed. Lets assume IDA checked and convinced she was conned, didn't try con knowing it fake. Plus she worked ten years after that.

For those with no other degree other than this fake, i agree, once you disregard the fake they're as good as illiterate.
Not sure if you remembered the name Bradley Manning. He is only a Private and also a back office soldier. But he caused the greatest leak of classified info. I am sure there are many sensitive info in mda. We cannot underestimate the importance of integrity.

THE Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) employee who obtained an unaccredited master's degree has been cleared of claims that she misled her employer when applying for a job.
After finishing its investigations, the IDA said yesterday it is satisfied that applications consultant Nisha Padmanabhan did not deceive the agency by listing the MBA from Web-based Southern Pacific University, an alleged diploma mill, in her resume.
The IDA added that Ms Padmanabhan's employment was not based on her MBA, as her position required only a bachelor's degree, and that it also considered her relevant skills and prior work experience.
Ms Padmanabhan, who has a bachelor's in electronics and telecommunication from the University of Mumbai in India, joined the IDA last year.
"She had genuinely believed her MBA programme to be bona fide, and she had put in effort to obtain the qualification," the IDA said.
Earlier this month, netizens criticised the agency for hiring Ms Padmanabhan despite the "phoney" qualification from Southern Pacific University, which was closed in the United States by a court order.
Meanwhile, claims that a senior polytechnic lecturer obtained a fake master's degree have been circulating on Internet forums and social media.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) media lecturer Marc Jonet, 52, received a master's in education from non-accredited, online-based Breyer State University three years ago, according to his personal bio, listed on the school's website and his LinkedIn page. Based on the biodata, he is supposedly graduating from the same institution with a doctorate in psychology later this year.
Mr Jonet, who is from Belgium, has been with NP's School of Film and Media Studies for about 15 years.
In a statement on Wednesday, the polytechnic said Mr Jonet was hired based on his prior work experience covering more than 10 years, which included editing and post-production work.
NP added that Mr Jonet pursued the master's programme of his own accord, and that it was not a job requirement and had no bearing on his progression at the institution.

What singapore PMET should demand is similar arrangements with India, Philippines etc. India for example has huge demand and shortage of skills for specialised PMET like Mall management, Retail, Construction design, Industrial Park you name it. You can google around. Salaries even without expat benefit at middle levels and up are quite decent, even compare to Singapore.
With expat benefit, they can be very attractive, lot of Koreans, Japs working already for their companies.

If I were FM I would demand India allow certain number of Sinkies work there without at EP etc. Like a quota. Same with Philippines.

Ms Ah Neh should come out and defend her lah ...shows us proof that she was a fool. Show us the kind of work she did for her MBA. Show us her results lah.

It is for her and IDA to prove that she didn't know (which also implies that she is stupid and that IDA accepts low-quality candidate for jobs) that her 'university' was a degree mill.

Then it is also for IDA to prove that she actually had the skill required for the job. Her experience is in great doubt as she got those jobs using her degree mill MBA.

Just issuing statements is not proof, IDA.

You mean those PMETs displaced by FTs from India and Philippines, can get the same or better jobs in India and Philippines with same or higher pay?

but how could some1 who worked hard on her basic degree failed to spot the many warning signs that her mba course was fake?

there are only 2 logical conclusion: 1. she suffered serious brain damage between getting that basic cert and getting that fake mba. 2. she lied that she dunno that fake mba is fake.

coming back to ida. there are also 2 logical conclusion for its continued support of this cheaperest foreigner: 1. ida management, hr, etc, etc, collectively suffered serious brain damage to either hired some1 with brain damage or a liar 2. ida lied.

Not every job but one that require spl skills that Singapore execs luckily have. It's up to them to take up or not. If Japs, whites China Chinese can work there why not sinkies?!

Maybe you should direct this retort to COW$8....if this was an opposition member, who joined IDA with the same credentials, that person, will be ask to come clean & even commit harakiri by the COW$8...but this is "integrated" newly mint, ah neh citizen...their pet.
