This GE, I am flying back to cast my vote against the PAP.

It takes one whole day for me to fly back to my country Singapore, but never mind, this is something I must do, for myself and most importantly, for the future generations of Singapore.

I need not go into details what a fucked-up government we have right now under LHL. Everyone in this forum know, including the PAP supporters.

Just one thing: when they forced the PWP into our throat, my contempt for PAP and LHL knows no bounds and cannot be suppressed anymore.

Because I know this fucking policy is going to ruin my homeland forever! Beyond redemption!

Just like Low Thia Kiang said in Teochew: I have tolerated them for very long!

So, I am going to vote against them, and will persuade as many as I can, to vote them out!

That is the only way we can claim back our country.

Never mind even if we don't succeed this time. At least lets give them a broken nose or black eye.

At least, when my children asked me 20 years later, I can tell them, that I have played my part.

Overseas Singaporeans unable to vote

It has been estimated that there are at least 200,000 Singaporeans residing overseas, according to PM Lee [Link].

But it appears that many of them are having problems voting in the present GE.

A reader from Hong Kong told TR Emeritus, “This is rubbish….. F**KING RUBBISH. Just been told that we need to register in HK by Aug 25 to vote. And PAP announced Election Day on Aug 25. WTF!!!!!!!!”

It appears that the government has closed overseas voter registration on the day the writ of election was submitted. This calls into question the sincerity of the PAP government in letting overseas Singaporeans to vote. Many have reasonably assumed that they can register once Parliament is dissolved.

Another overseas reader said, “So, now the government expects overseas Singaporeans to able to predict the future, as to when the writ of election will be submitted so that they register ahead?”

Anecdotal evidence may suggest that many overseas Singaporeans are pro-opposition. Many of them left Singapore to work overseas for one reason or another. Some, of course, were retrenched and couldn’t get similar type of jobs in Singapore.

Working overseas especially in those first world countries, may have also made them more aware of their individual rights and practices of first world democracies.

100,000 opposition votes would equal about 4% plus of the GE2015 electorate. The PAP government must have been aware of this.

So, it would consider to be an advantage to the PAP if a majority of those 200,000 plus oversea votes, which are more likely going to the opposition, went missing.

This does not affect only the overseas Singaporeans. Those who are asked to travel for business, for seminars, for projects etc after the 25 August and not returning by 11 September will also not be able to vote.

Why is the PAP government denying the overseas voters their constitutional rights over an insignificant technicality?
