You can import as many FTs in other industries for all I care. For doctors, you can refuse to consult with an FT import if you do not think he or she is qualified. No one is stopping you as your health is more important to yourself. I've never come across an FT doctor that is successful in Singapore. Have you?

Yes, I met and am still meeting FT successful doctors in Mt.E. and Gleneagles hospitals.
Most FT doctors are Malaysian.
Some are angmo.
Few are from Asia (India, China and Indo).
They are accredited by SMA, specialist status.

Regarding the choice if we can refute to consult with FT doctors, please look at our Polyclinics.
Most doctors are FTs, cheaply employed by MOH.
I knew few of them working at Polyclinics too.
They are paid <3k in average.

If we have more FT doctors, I think healthcare cost could be suppressed down spiral.

You're talking rocks here. I'm not siding doctors and you think doctors are not special? Think again. You think it's so easy to become a doctor? It's easier to be a hawker and earn much more and yet spit on customers with poor customer service and uncouth manners.

These FT doctors are specialists. They're skilled in their own disciplines. So what is your problem complaining about their charges?

I dun know about FT doctors at polyclinics for I never once go to a polyclinic in my life-time. I dun think anyone sud scrimp to go to polyclinics so often. I also do not see any issue with having FT doctors in polyclinics, as long as they're qualified. You've a problem with them?

On one hand, you complain about healthcare costs, but when given the solution of buying basic insurance to cover for the costs, you think about $1 million insurance coverage. You tell me, what type of strange illness that require $1 million?? If sway sway you tiok bay peo, then tough luck. Better go and die and save costs for yourself and your loved ones.

Whether a hawker is nice to you or not is not dependent on whether you're nice to them. There is always the buyer/seller or customer/provider relationship that has basic protocol which includes courteous service with a smile.

Actually, I really dun quite understand that exactly is your point in this thread. If you think the doctors are making obscene money, then you can choose not to see them. But if healthcare costs are your issue, then I suggest you leave your criticism of doctors aside and concentrate on the root cost of HIGH healthcare costs. If you can't analyse things, I suggest you leave this matter alone as you're barking up the wrong tree.

You expect doctors to be paid how much? As low as a clerical staff? Get real. The specialists in hospitals drive ferrari and jaguars and they deserve it for the skill they possessed in curing patients. The hospitals are the ones that are making the doctors recommend all kinds of unnecessary tests which are costly to the patients and PROFITING from it. The doctors could be in cahoot with the hospitals but they've no choice if they're working within the hospital's expectations of them.

If you do not want to benefit the hospitals and doctors, then dun get sick and live a healthy life-style and just buy the basic shield plan to cover for catastrophic illnessess. What is so complicated about that?

Already when one sees a private GP, every consultation is minimum $30 and a GP makes at least $30,000 per month on an average.

Such professions like doctors always make alot of money but they're more justified than hawkers, who make $30,000 per month on an average too and yet pretend to be poor and provide fuckup customer service and food.

well said. i once asked a specialist in garmen hosp nad he told me not all gramen docs are well paid. moreover he said in the past he had to take countless of difficult exams and need at least 25 years of training to become a specialist. yet alot of green eyed monsters here. why dpn't they complain about bankers or lawyers who earn millions and yet do very little for society. I know of bankers hwo talk crap and always out to cheat. lehman bros fisco is a typical example and yet till tiodays they are paying themselves millions in bonus even when they lose money. balrdy cheats like cyprus where savers are penalised for bankers mistake. what about hawkers who earns millions and yet do not declare or declare very littile income tax.

In fact, we have had enough writers and contributors regarding bankers, financial advisors and insurance agents.
Cannot agree more that they are crooks.

It seems that medical professionals and doctors are well regarded in sinkies' heart.
And, hawkers are the poorest chaps who cheat on taxes, having gambling habit, blah blah...

I have seen doctors avoiding taxes through quite intelligent way by creating multiple companies and supply chains.
I have seen hawkers quite decent and humble, always have a smile face.
