Does anyone dare to tell LKY anything ? Only JBJ perhaps. And you know what happened.
Everyone knows they were not Communists, this was the implication the government wanted take hold.

If caring for the good of the downtrodden is Marxism, the Gospels are Marxist. The key difference is why?
The " Marxist Conspiracy " debacle tainted LKY and the PAP and caused people to question previous historical actions against activists and opposition politicians.

As for the many Christian MPs and Ministers, and those non- Christians who attended mission schools, other than Dhanabalan, they should hang their heads in shame.

Christian and Catholic PAP ministers and MPs - they love their PAP$ more than their faith.

The Catholic Church just issued voting guidelines for Catholics to consider when voting in the GE. Looks suspiciously to be leaning towards opposition especially Workers Party or even Dr Chee!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The date of the General Election has been announced. Singaporeans will go to the polls on 11 September, 2015. Some of you have asked the Church for guidance as we ponder on how to exercise our vote as responsible citizens and Catholics. It behooves us to be aware of the Church’s stand on religion and politics.

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in its Doctrinal Note regarding the Participation of Catholics in Political Life states that the primary function of the Church is to instruct and illuminate the consciences of the faithful, particularly those involved in political life, so that their actions may always serve the integral promotion of the human person and the common good.

The just ordering of society or the state is not the central responsibility of the Church. Yet, as citizens of the state, we are called to participate in public life in a personal capacity. These two spheres, religion and politics, though distinct, are interrelated. A good Catholic should also be a good citizen on earth and in heaven.

Secondly, we have a moral obligation to exercise our vote responsibly. This means conscientiously assessing for ourselves, each candidate or party in the light of the following considerations, alongside their electoral promises, when deciding who to elect to government:

Is the candidate/party one of good moral standing, in particular with regard to the values of honesty and integrity?
Does the candidate/party uphold the principles that are enshrined in the Singapore Pledge, namely, justice, equality, progress, peace and harmony?
Does the candidate/party promote a culture of life and dignity of the human person?
Does the candidate/party work to preserve and promote moral values?
Does the candidate/party protect and care for the weak, elderly, under-privileged, and those with special needs?
Does the candidate/party protect and support marriages and family life?
Does the candidate/party build an inclusive society, free from oppression and discrimination?
Is the candidate/party in touch with the needs of the people and demonstrate selfless service, putting the nation before self?
For further elaboration and insight, I urge you to read this in conjunction with the attached FAQs.

Finally, I invite all of you to pray, fast or offer up some sacrifices for our country’s future. Mass should be celebrated and offered with this intention too.

In other words, Catholic Church of Sinkieland is echoing the words of their beloved Pope John Paul II - DO NOT BE AFRAID, VOTE THE PAP OUT!

Catholic church in Singapore was against Casinos but George Yeo, a Catholic, was the Casino proposer. George Yeo was also recommended for a Vatican appointment as advisor on financial matters. Lim Boon Heng also a Catholic and PAP member. Both PAP Catholic Ministers also support Abortion & Casinos, neither of them were chastised or ex communicated!

The group of Catholic workers who suffered being branded as Marxists conspirators were never exonerated or acknowledged as innocent by the Catholic church, they were sort of abandoned.

Makes whatever guidelines issued by the Catholic church for voting seemed really shallow or hypocritically WAYANG at the very least.

Short answer is it depends on the Pope.

All the above even if true does not matter.

What is important is:

1) There are no permanent enemies or friends in politics.

2) A significant portion of the populace will follow such religious guidelines. This is an earthly truth that even an atheist and admirer of Machiavelli (whose books were banned by the Catholic Church) like myself must acknowledge. That is because not all are created equal and only a few are sufficiently endowed to be enlightened atheists. As Napoleon said, God is not unnecessary but religion is.

3) The Church's statements can reasonably taken to be an endorsement to vote for the Opposition.

4) With the rigged electoral system (GRC, PA, gerrymandering, etc), Sinkies' kiasuism, biased press, etc, every vote counts.

5) The Church's relative inaction on past injustices to particular individuals or groups associated with it could be seen as due to the need to consider the greater good - proper functioning of missionary schools, charities, homes for destitute, etc - all of which the PAP can make very difficult for the Church and ultimately the People who rely on these services. This occurs everywhere. Otherwise, why don't simply break off all ties with the mainland Chinese authorities? What good would that do to the Vatican's greater objectives?

6) Machiavelli is the best! He even praised the notorious Pope Alexander VI and Caesar Borgia for their skill and ruthlessness in political maneuvering in a troubled world full of evil men like Lee Kuan Yew.

7) In short - GET REAL!

A lot of Catholics r WP supporters. They r behind Sylvia who they see as a staunch Catholic than those half past six Catholics in PAP.

With respect, those two Roman Catholics should be ashamed.

Lawrence Khong of FCBC has openly told his Khongia flock to vote PAPzi for a strong government. This goes way beyond what the Archbishop has done.

Will he be charged for interfering?

If you think of the head pastors of local Charismatic megachurches (the big three: CHC, FCBC and New Creation Church) as BUSINESSMEN instead of CLERGYMEN, it makes perfect sense.

The PAP is unashamedly pro-business - even the business of selling salvation. Naturally the cronies will do whatever it takes to get on the PAP regime's good side. This is most evident in the F&B industry: George Quek, Douglas Foo, certain coffeeshop owners in AMK etc.

The Catholic Church has always been left-leaning. How do you think liberation theology started in South America?

And the present pope, Pope Francis, is probably the most liberal pope in history. He's been speaking up on the environment, rich-poor gap, climate change, poverty and social injustice.

No question these 'guidelines' are a subtle hint that the Church is backing the opposition, with full approval from the Vatican.

What is his basis to persuade his "flock" to vote for the PAP candidates?

I am very disappointed!

Don't pray pray with Lawrence. The papigs might need his magical powers to make boxes of votes for opposition vanish.
