The true name was Sanatan dharma, later when there were attacks from the Western side, mughals, e.t.c who names Hindustan as the people living beyond the Sindbhu river. Sindbhu river is a river in pakistan ( then undivided india).
So the real name is Sanatan Dharma which was later for convenience coined as Hindustan for convenience of the invaders.

I haven't read or watched Oppenheimer and what exactly was the scene,
but based on the news article, Bhagavad Geeta is a spiritual scripture and is used to purify one's mind and get detachment from worldly affairs.
Kamasutra on the other hand is a scripture which has science of Sex, so it is inappropriate to read a spiritual scripture before sex and showing it on Live television in my view.
Though depicting Sex positions as in Kamasutra to teach Sex without using any spiritual scripture of detachment may be okay as the audience for both are different.
Actually the word Hindu is from the Persian language.
"India" is also a name given by the ancient Persians, when they referred to the river as Indus river, the word Sindhu, etc..
And Sanskrit originated in ancient Syria as were the early Rig Vedas.
The Dodis copied and claimed Sanskrit as their own.
