Hong Kong hiker falls to his death from cliff on Lion Rock
Firefighters find the man’s body 400 metres below the cliff; witnesses say he was trying to take a photograph standing on the edge

A male hiker in his 30s fell to his death from Lion Rock after what witnesses claim was a daring attempt to take a photo standing on the edge of a cliff.
Emergency services were notified around 1pm on Saturday that someone had fallen from a cliff near the summit of Lion Rock. Firefighters later found the body of the man about 400 metres below the cliff, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation by the police found nothing suspicious about the case, which was probably an accident. The official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
No identification documents were found on the hiker. Police described the victim as a man aged about 30, 1.7 metres in height, portly with short black hair and wearing a grey T-shirt and dark blue trousers.
At 495-metres, Lion Rock in north Kowloon is the 52nd highest mountain in Hong Kong.
Last year, the body of a missing hiker, a 53-year-old woman, was found on a trail in Lion Rock Country Park, following an extensive search and rescue operation.
