Rolf Harris is to front court for the first time after being charged with 13 child sex offences.

The Australian entertainer is scheduled to make a brief appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday morning London time.

Harris faces six counts of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 1980 and 1981 and three charges of indecent assault on a girl aged 14 in 1986.

The 83-year-old was also charged three weeks ago with four counts of making indecent images of a child in the first half of 2012.

Harris's first court appearance comes as it was revealed on Sunday his artwork has been removed from galleries on board luxury ocean liners including the Queen Mary 2.

A spokesman for cruise giant Cunard told British tabloid the Daily Mail: "When allegations regarding Rolf Harris first came to light some time ago we felt it was appropriate to remove his pictures from display in the art galleries on board."

His portrait of Queen Elizabeth also is reportedly in art limbo with no-one - including Buckingham Palace - able to confirm its whereabouts.

The artist and singer was replaced as the host of British television show Animal Clinic after being arrested for a second time in early August.

It was revealed in April he'd been dropped as the face of British Paints.

Harris was first questioned over allegations of sexual assault in November 2012.

He was arrested in late March 2013 by officers from Operation Yewtree which was established following the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

At the beginning of August he was re-arrested following further allegations.

A police file of evidence was then passed to prosecutors who recommended Harris be charged.

LONDON (AFP) – Veteran Australian entertainer Rolf Harris will appear in court on Monday to face nine charges of indecent assault on two girls aged under 16.

The 83-year-old will also face four charges of making indecent images of children when he appears at London's Westminster Magistrates Court.

Harris is one of several older celebrities arrested under Operation Yewtree, the police probe into abuse set up in the wake of revelations that the late BBC star Jimmy Savile was a prolific sex offender.

Harris, who moved to England in 1952, has been a popular figure on British television screens for decades and painted an 80th birthday portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in 2005.

Harris was charged with six counts of indecent assault relating to a girl aged between 15 and 16 for incidents dating from April 1980 to April 1981, and three relating to a girl aged 14 from April and June 1986.

He was further charged with four counts of making indecent images of children, on or before dates spanning between March and July 2012.

LONDON (AFP) - Veteran entertainer Rolf Harris appeared in court on Monday to face nine charges of indecent assault on two girls aged under 16.

His lawyer indicated Harris will plead not guilty to the alleged offences, as well as to four charges of making indecent images of children.

The 83-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, address in Bray, Berkshire and date of birth during the hearing at London's Westminster Magistrates Court.

The case has now been referred to Southwark Crown Court, with the next hearing set for October 7.

He was released on bail on condition that he does not contact prosecution witnesses, lives at his home address and does not spend time with anyone under the age of 18 without being accompanied by someone over 21.

Harris is charged with six counts of indecent assault relating to a girl aged between 15 and 16 for incidents dating from April 1980 to April 1981 and three relating to a girl aged 14 from April and June 1986.

He also faces four counts of making indecent images of children between March and July 2012.

Harris, who moved to England from Australia in 1952, has been a popular figure on British television screens for decades and painted an 80th birthday portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in 2005.
