SINGAPORE: Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is suing a casino patron it describes as a "premium" player for alleged non-payment of $240,868 in credit extension but the man is disputing its claim that he owes it money.

In the first legal suit of its kind here, MBS claims it had extended credit to 30-year-old Lester Ong Boon Lin as he was a premium player with a minimum deposit of $100,000 with the casino.

Mr Ong is denying these claims, saying he was not a premium player as he had withdrawn the S$100,000 deposit to buy gambling chips before credit was extended to him.

In his defence filed by lawyer Sunil Singh Panoo of Messrs Dhillon & Partners, Mr Ong further contends that the MBS is deemed to be a moneylender under the law as it had extended credit to a non-premium member. He argues that the credit extended is "unenforceable and not recoverable" since MBS is not a licensed moneylender.

Lester Ong is a chao-kar. Or should say a lousy gambler. Why didn't he complain when he is winning, but finding all sorts of excuses not to pay up when he has lost?

Regardless of whether he is gambling or doing business, in real life, he would think it is wrong to pay debts if he owes them. He would think of law loopholes to avoid paying what he owes.

Cannot make it and he is going to lose more money to his lawyers fighting such a case which makes him look so foolish:cool:

Some lawyers fight cases not because they think will win. They fight the case for exposure and over here there is a complete idiot who is so naive enough to believe these lawyer to go all out and sue.

If there is a precedent, then next time everyone should go and play on credit. Lose already no need to pay up. Just get a lawyer and only pay lawyer but not losses

Want play soccer with bookies, that's the risk involved

Hello Bro BlackHole,

how are you? Hope all are fine....

Btw...here's another brother posting from AsianBookies....

Started soccer betting 3 months ago on a UCL match, lost $20. After that got win abit, lose abit, when winning feel very good got extra money for food and enjoyment. Betted $5 for every single EPL matches and the loss grew to $200 (there was a period when even i betted the favourites to win, they lost) ... tried to play safe by betting $400 per match on clear favourites with very low returns but still lost....consequently lost 4 times so lost $1.8k in total, decided to quit soccer betting....

Then one fine day heard of my foreign colleagues winning at the casinos....with ''strategic baccarat and roulette'' strategies...thought i can beat the casinos...so decided to turn to casinos to make a comeback for the $1.8k loss in soccer betting....thinking i have around $16k in savings...thought i could manage and try to make $500 every trip and 5 trips i will recover my $1.8k and still make some money from gambling and quit. First trip inside won $800. Very happy so subsequent trips went in with a vow to leave after making like $300....consecutively won for 5 trips....made $2k after deducting levies...still made $200...thought why should i focus on my job which paid so poorly....so decided to do my job part time and headed into the casinos weekly.....and this was the biggest mistakes in my life....subsequent trips I lost more than $2k every trip...and lost $6.6k in a single trip was the biggest in my humble life

went in last week for the showdown with $4k which is what i am left with after 45 years on this Earth and lost...played all the card games and every bet lost to the banker.....

And now i am left with $5.98 in my bank account. And $20 plus in my wallet...lucky is i still live my brother if not i will be sleeping on the streets now.....

Losing $18k may not be alot to some of you but my advice is don't step into the casinos and if need to b just take it as a form of entertainment and only if you can afford to like 10% of your savings?

You can never win the casino....when we are winning...we tended to bet small and won $25 by $25......and when we are losing we may bet up to $500 per bet and lose control.....that is the human failure....

As of now, i everyday still couldnt sleep for the past 3 days...thinking how much this money meant to me....and even if i work now..saving $200 every month,, how long must i need to earn it back...and this money could have been used to contribute to my brother's rental and other things or even be donated to those old needy people ....

Can anyone advise what can i do now to distract myself away from the depression ... now i really despise myself for entering the casino...please help me

Casinos and soccer betting is purely an expensive entertainments. Our tiny bankroll cannot compete with casino huge cash holdings so in long run we will lose badly. I still think that one cannot make a living through casino gambling if can. Nobody will work for a living just enter casinos to make $200~$300 a day then go home.

Gamble for entertainments will do :p
