From end 2015, Sinkie PMETs will be FCUK hard hard. Here's how....

From end 2015 when AEC is expected to come into force, local PMETs will be find themselves having to compete for jobs on their own turf with PMETs from other Asean countries. The situation will be similar to the one that is happening in the EU member states right now. Of course the full impact on Sinkie PMETs will only be felt from 2017 onwards....

Under the AEC framework, Singapore's Ministry of Manpower and ICA will NOT be allowed to restrict the flow of skilled foreign professionals into Sinkieland. (Read: The proposed restrictions on foreign skilled labour recently announced by MOM ministar are just wayang-wayang from now till end 2015.)

Of all the current Asean members, SINKapore is the wealthiest. I don't need to emphasize that there will be a massive net inflow of foreign PMETs to the city-state.

Ah Tiongs will benefit too. How?

Smart Ah Tiongs will pay to become citizens or permanent residents of Myanmar/Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam or even Indonesia so that they can come to SINKapore to work and live. Last I heard, an Ah Tiong need to pay only US$8,000 to a corrupt official in Cambodia or Laos to become a citizen. To become a PR of either Cambodia or Laos, the market rate is US$6,000.

P.S.: Sinkies have to thank the Unholy Trinity (the Father, the Son Pinky and Holy Goh) for their tireless efforts at promoting AEC. I was told that SINKapore was the prime mover and chief advocate of AEC since the mid 1990s.

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)

The ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint for realising the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015 was adopted and signed by the ASEAN Leaders in November 2007 in Singapore during their annual Summit Meeting.

The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is one of the three pillars to achieve a cohesive ASEAN Community. The other two are political / security and social cultural pillars.

AEC Blueprint is a single comprehensive document which identifies the characteristics and elements of the AEC with clear implementation targets and timelines for the various economic integration measures within ASEAN. The main objectives of AEC are to create a:

* single market and production base;
* highly competitive economic region;
* region of equitable economic development;and
* region fully integrated into the global economy.

HIGHLIGHTS OF AEC BLUEPRINT

Single Market and Production Base

The five (5) core elements of ASEAN single market and production base are:

free flow of goods;
free flow of services;
free flow of investment;
freer flow of capital;and
FREE FLOW OF SKILLED LABOUR.

For God's sake, can they stop importing all these foreign trash here, there is already not much land !!:oIo:

My dear Bro, under the AEC framework, we CANNOT accuse LEEgime of [sic]importing all these foreign trash here[sic]. It is an intra-Asean agreement.

Didn't LKY claim that Spore couldn't make it:confused:

Looking at how expensive it is getting here, I expect something to give in Spore. I could be wrong of course but the old wind bag has claimed that Spore can't make it in the future without rejoining Malaysia. I don't think the Lee's expect things to last forever & this may be why they are pillaging the state coffers:confused:

How about the deal to import more indians? Indian gov't was not happy when they claimed the PAP was backing away from the agreement to let in even more indians .

It is obvious that the PAP doesn't need an excuse to let in any Tom, Dick or Harry. Only way to stop them is in the hands of the 60%

PAPies are ahead of their times. No need for such framework as greedy cuntries will always value dirt cheap workers. This AEC thing will only strengthen what PApies have been always doing and best still give them more of an excuse to displace sinkees. Pick up an immigration form and leave peesai for good is the best option.

Hahaha, you must understand something.
The land that the elites are on and the land that the foreign trash are expected to mooch around in, are mutually exclusive.
And that's why they are not bothered in the least, while at the same time, they can shout out loud: "Kah Ch$ng!!!"

If the PMETs are going to be screwed..than they jolly well vote for the opposition in 2016. Dont KPKB etc etc than in the end vote PAP. PAP will never change, its up to the people to change it. In the past I have seen and heard all the bleeding heart excuses given to vote PAP. N it blew up in the voters face,,,so now they suffer they deserve it as they voted for PAP. IF 2016 PAP dont lose its 2/3 majority,,than sinkies deserve the gahmen they vote for.

Will that meant Sinkies do not need to live in Singapore and can live in other Asean countries?

If so, very good

No, no. The AEC is not the same as the EU model....yet.

Suppose you are a Pinoy currently living in the Philippines. You can't go and live in SINKapore without first getting yourself a job.

Suppose there is a Sinkie fast food company called Happy Wasp. It goes to the Philippines to recruit F&B skilled F&B staff.

LEEgime cannot impose a cap on the number of skilled Pinoys Happy Wasp can hire and Sinkies can't demand that the composition of Happy Wasp's skilled staff must be at least 75% local. That's the kind of situation that will happen end 2015.

Definition of "skilled labour"? LEEgime and its cronies will have the final say.

The launch of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of 2015 will stir up a wide variety of labour-related problems, speakers told a seminar in Bangkok on Friday.

A tailor sews clothing at a workshop in Bangkok, on Jan. 23, 2013. Bloomberg photo.

The warnings were issued by labour unionists and representatives of other agencies.

Arunee Srito, formerly a union leader at the collapsed textile firm Thai Kriang Textile, said regional integration will bring an influx of foreign workers from countries like Laos and Cambodia, especially with the 300 baht minimum wage policy now in place.

The major consequence would be that local workers would have to learn to work from their homes to stay employed. People in cottage industries were often subject to unfair employment terms.

"The government has never issued any regulations regarding informal workers. Houses have become small factories, a loophole in the labour legislation, where employees work very long hours but lack stable income, labour protection and social security cover," said Ms Arunee.

Researcher Woradul Turarak stated: "The Asean economy is rapidly growing and the trend towards hiring part-time workers is also increasing, which negatively affects the financial stability of low-income earners."

Thailand needs to find a way to negotiate with employers so that they either hire full-time employees or give out contracts that give part-time workers fixed-duration employment, he said.

Wichai Poonkamnerd, chairman of Nam Jai Sampan Labour Union, said the government should pay heed to the importance of foreign labour laws before the AEC comes into effect.

The majority of the workforce in major industries were foreigners because Thai workers make too many demands and do not work as hard, he said.

High competitiveness could improve the quality of Thai workers, but they would lose their jobs if they fail to compete.

In the long-run, foreign labour would group together and ask for rights that current labour policies do not provide, and conflict will occur, he said.

Chadej Chaowilai, director of the Women's and Men's Progressive Movement Foundation, also warned that an increase in the number of foreign workers would give rise to several social problems.

Labour unions needed to address problems of female workers being sexually abused. Workers drinking alcohol, committing violent and other crimes was also of concern

She said unions must find ways to expand their networks to strengthen their organisations. They needed to include community representatives, so that more related groups could participate and provide support.
