if the PAP loses mayhem will break out

mayhem? instigated by whom?

there will be law and order as long as the Constitution stand and the Civil Service understands that their loyalty stands with the Nation, not any one political party.

wake up.

It is not realistic to think that there will be sufficient numbers in opposition, coalition or otherwise to gain a majority. There are just not enough people in opposition.

Old Man is just frightening people into thinking that elections is a zero sum game. We will be lucky to have 3 seats lets alone 5. Forget about majority. Most opposition candidates are completely unknown. Even the once a year seen getai singers are better known.

Eventually when the numbers increase, there will momentum for people of calibre to step forward.

I do not see the PAP replaced in 50 years unless, there is a split within the party.

Most people have come to take the PAP as a Condo Management Agent. The fault lies with the PAP for making politics and elections so sterile and intimidating. Nobody's respects the PAP MP most of whom entered using the GRC concession card.

freak election results? we are now living in the result of freak election result. how so?

suppose we have a so call, violinist, who cant play violin well, and have tone deaf. but he keep on appearing on the national tv, playing the violin for hours in front of the camera, live broadcast, can we say thats freakish?? what the fuck is that guy doing? you call that violinist?

same thing for our politic arena here in singapore.

u have a so call division 1 politicians, PM LHL who speak like he has plum in his mouth. and the previous PM GCT, the MM LKY almost wanna ask GCT to go see a shrink, because GCT is too wooden in his mannerism. isn't that freakish? i mean politician who don't have good public speaking skill, why the fuck are they in the front line of politics? shouldn't they be in 2nd line, 3rd lline of politics, doing research or something, instead of front line?

isn't that freakish election result we are having now: bunch of political misfits running this country?? in normal election, people with good public speaking, good people skill (communication skill, good in building rapport with the public, etc.) they win the election. not some sulky bookworm, nerd, winning the election. we are living the freakish election result.

Those who are worried about freak election results will note that we already had one after independence when the PAP won all seats with an 84% majority -- surely an abnormal result in any true, functional democracy.

After that freak result, Singapore continued to grow anyway.

Don't worry, freak results are not bad for Singapore. Let's have another one, this time, for an opposition party.

PAP never told the public that "single winner district" elections without proportional representation always result in parliamentary seats won not in proportional to the percentage of nationwide votes.

In short, PAP won elections after elections, a overly exaggerated mandate to rule which the electoral system gave the party but not really what the voters wanted.

I think most still don't understand that PAP don't deserve 95% of parliamentary seats with 66% votes although 66% is a outstanding mandate still.

In order to allow Sporeans to taste the freakish electoral results, the PAP govt has introduced plans for a whole party retreat which will last for 1 month. Opposition parties will fill in the vacuum for the entire 1 month and will decide all policy matters of Spore.

However insiders have also indicated that the PAP govt had concurrently worked closely with top scientists to introduce to the world an incredible scinentific revolution - by deloping pigs with wings. They hope to get the project running before they proceed for their 1 month retreat.

Thus the opposition will be given due notice that they will fill up the govt's place once they see the pig flies.

That happened only because the only opposition party that mattered, who was hodling 99% of the opposition seats, made the suicidal move of boycotting the elections.

so the pigs started flying back in 1959 when PAP, as the opposition at that time, won the elections and got into power?

No. The technology was not as sophisticated then. They were experimenting on video editing and found that they could put create the effect of tears on someone. It worked wonders and made people believe he is the chosen one.

oh well, we've spend quite a few billions on the bio-medical hub, we should be seeing the pigs flying soon... else the investment would have gone down the drain, wouldn't it?

I am keeping myself in a very liquid position. Once the pigs start flying, so does my capital....

All of these rich, affluent leaders ( mainly millionaires ) are staying in private housing and do not know the pain, suffering, concerns, fear, insecurity of the people <--these are rising trends and the garment cant do poo to help us. It is reasonable that Police cannot stay at your void deck like security guards but even my request for CCTVs to be installed for my block which was terrorised by Ah Longs was turned down by the Town Council. They say NO MONEY ....coz lost all invested in LEHMAN Bros & Minibonds ? Pls bear in mind that your MPs are the Town Council advisers.

I can say that LKY has led the team to win the game title: Creation of Singapore (Stage 1), Development of Singapore (Stage 2)....now is Stage 3 and I see the garment losing their midas touch already. They are painting a very beautiful picture of globalisation & putting Singapore on the World Map. What are the fruits that we have tasted since the last election? We only see more foreigners competing jobs with us, putting pressure on the ceiling of our salaries and putting some locals out of favour.

And the rich foreigners coming into Singapore, pushing up the price of land and housing. Making it more difficult for the poor to stand on their feet and barely surviving. Even the middle income are huffing and puffing, running the rat race and yet no idea where they are running. Only the strongest will survive in Singapore. The weak and the uncompetitive will be forced to become refugees in some foreign land soon.

I can foresee the Opposition winning many seats and with this believe, it's already half battle won. PAP has been given the chance but did not cherish it, just too bad and now they are just panicky about the whole issue. Garment build Casino without taking into consideration of Singaporeans. Singapore have no say in this because not enough opposition seats, thats why. Many Singaporeans are already regretting not voting for the Opposition in the last election. Lets cast our vote for the Opposition to win more seats in this election at least Singaporeans will have their say!!!! The Millionaire Ministers are too comfortable, let put them on their toes so we make our money work harder for us!!!!!! Our population is slightly less than 5 million as compared to USA 307,212,123 (July 2009 est.) Imagine the amount of taxes use to pay our Ministers salary divided by number of Singaporeans, as compared to Economic Super Powers like USA. Singaporeans are basically being sucked very dry by our very own leaders. So do these leaders really LOVE SINGAPOREANS, or LOVE SINGAPORE or LOVE MONEY?

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong – S$3.8 million (USD 2.7 mil).

Senior Ministers of State and Ministers of State – each paid between S$1.8 million to S$1.5 million (USD 1.2 mil – USD 1.08 mil).

** At age 55, Singapore Ministers collect both a salary and their full pension.

** In addition to their inflated salaries, the Singapore elite gets extra pay as appointed company directors!

Other non-corrupt 1st world Governments :

United States
President Barak Obama: US$400,000, with US$50,000 expenses
Vice President Joe Biden: US$202,900
Cabinet Secretaries: US$157,000 – $186,600
Secretary of State (Hillary Clinton) – $186,600

United Kingdom
Prime Minister Gordon Brown: $US279,000

Australia
Prime Minister Kevin Ruud: $US229,000

Hong Kong
Chief Executive Donald Tsang: $US516,000

Japan
Prime Minister Hatoyama: $US243,000

Canada
Prime Minister: $US246,000

Germany
Chancellor Angela Merkel: $US303,000

France
President Nicolas Sarkozy: $US318,000

Based on what they are paid, it looks like Singapore’s most Junior Ministers have a tougher and more difficult job than even the Presidents / Prime Ministers of the above mentioned countries. Dosen’t it ??

O’wise, how can the PAP Government justify paying their Ministers more than 2 times the salary of Ministers in other equally non-corrupt, developed nations.

Singapore Government Ministers don’t need ‘under-the-counter’ payment when they are given ‘over-the-counter’ money…

A freak result only applies to those staying too long in ivory tower and still believe he is king forever. Just like a child unwilling to come out of his dream and fairy tales to face reality. Only an iron rod can wake up a child and give him proper discipline

Your latest sentence "freak elections result? perhaps only in a dictatorial and/or fascist state would this term ever surface" makes perfect sense.

I think someone remarked that in a truly functioning democracy, would any election result, whether it entrenches or removes the incumbent, be considered "freak", which is another way of saying what you have just said.

no matter how freak the result could be, SDP won't win any. too early to crown your beloved troll an empress yet.

why didn't SDP send u to EGYPT instead? care to answer in ur honorable nic instead of deploying your nasty clones?
